It all depends on what kind of defense we are facing. Ricky is incredibly talented at taking his guy to the rack when we are facing a traditional man to man defense where he can work ISO. But as you play better and better teams, you’re seeing some matchup zones, “Pack Line”, and “No-Middle” defenses. These types of defenses are content to go under ball screens and clog the lane on Council (and everybody except NSJ probably). So then Council pulls up for the mid-range J where he has an atrocious FG %. Unless we face a more traditional man to man defense, I bet we continue to see less and less Ricky

his is mostly a myth. Would you rather be a 12 seed in our region? You’d play St Mary’s, UCONN and then Kansas if you get to the Sweet 16.

So you'd rather play Kansas than St. Mary's

Lol. Okay.

For the record, Council has a better FG% and FT% than both Devo and Smith.

He's not a bad free throw shooter but that FG% is because of his driving ability and getting dunks and layups

I don't think I've ever seen Ricky hit two straight FTs

On the bright side of things, Illinois somehow has a worse FT% than we do.

Saw an analytical projection score that had Arkansas and Illinois at a difference of .012 pts, with Arkansas slightly ahead.

These two teams are basically mirror images.

High ceiling low floor, types with massive inconsistency.

If Devo can shut down Shannon we will win. Offense runs through him.

I still think this is a Graham game. He’s quicker down low and can worn around Dainja.

This!

Devo steps his game up during the tournament. The others will follow.

Probably the best descriptor of this team.

I've played a lot of basketball. Players like having that guy on their team, especially on the road.

It's sort of like having a nuke. Mutually Assured Destruction.

On a neutral court UCONN would be a slight favorite over Kansas and St Mary’s would be a slight dog. All three are very competitive teams. Illinois is a few rungs lower. So yes I’d rather play one excellent team than two of them.

UCONN will be the team to come out of that bracket. But Id much rather take on a St. Mary's in the first round than Illinois.

They're my champ pick.

Now watch them lose in the first round

One of the reasons Bama isn't going to win it all.

Interesting fact: Illinois only has two quad one wins. UCLA in Nov and Texas on Dec. 6th. Damn nice wins but zero in Big Ten play.
