There’s no point in losing money paying a buyout for a sport that doesn’t make any money anyway.

Probably not but $490K a year is miniscule for a coach that has no tournament wins in 6 years and missed the tournament in year 6. That's really bad end of the day and definitely grounds for it.

I haven’t seen Illinois play, but if they can play a decent zone defense they will beat us by double digits

Hogs open as 2.5 favorites against Illinois. Reading about them. They can’t play 40 minutes of complete basketball much like us. Hopefully the pillow fight favors us

We will win. Illini fans melted bad the other night after their loss. Both teams shouldn’t be in tournament as both very similar.

Famliar faces. Joe Dirt from Baylor 2 years ago is on them. As is the guard from Texas Tech.

I think we win. Their coach seems clueless about us in pressers. Muss will have the boys ready.

Those two elite 8s helped us out in this tourney I think. Hard to believe after the season we’ve had that we’re a favorite in our first round game. Then Kansas if we win? Meh they’re good and everything but probably the weakest 1. I wouldn’t have been offended if we had been an 11 seed.

I would have rather been a 10-11-12 than an 8-9. Much easier draw. And honestly with the season we’ve had we don’t deserve an 8-9

This is mostly a myth. Would you rather be a 12 seed in our region? You’d play St Mary’s, UCONN and then Kansas if you get to the Sweet 16.

Yeah to me the whole 8-9 vs 10-11-12 debate comes down to whether you’d rather go on a run or win 1 game. If you’re an 8-9, that’s an easier first round game. If you’re a 10-11-12, then it’s “easier” to go on a run but you’re having to upset folks from the get go.

I don’t think this team has a deep run in them so give me the 8/9, so we can have a decent chance at winning 1 game and then go home

10 seed would have been better IMO. You get a 7 which is usually on par with the 8,9 seed we were playing anyway. Could you imagine if we played Northwestern then UCLA the 2nd game? Both very winnable.

On another note during the selection show they said we match up very well with Kansas. They said our length would be an issue.

As long as we're dancing we should be happy. If this teams wins some games great If not oh well. Unfortunate the injuries we suffered over the year

You’d rather play a 7 than a 9? That’s silly. And there’s no guarantee Kansas will even have their coach. The committee treated us very well.

Easy example that’s topical, A&M is a 7 and Auburn is a 9. We just beat Auburn and lost to A&M. Case closed!
