They are predicted 6th in the SOCON by busting brackets, and 4th by the coaches.

They had 2 make the socon preseason 1st team

Neftali Alvarez, R-Jr., G, Mercer
Felipe Haase, R-Sr., F, Mercer

Haase is 6'9" 253 and scored 12 a game with 7.6 boards a game. Shoots 40% from three.

quote:

6. Mercer
Key Returners: Neftali Alvarez, Felipe Haase, James Glisson, Kamar Robertson, Jacksen Greco
Key Losses: Leon Ayers, Maciej Bender, Ross Cummings, Jeff Gary
Key Newcomers: Jalen Johnson (Wake Forest), Shawn Walker Jr. (JUCO), Javian Mosley***, Quay Primas***

Bottom Line: Mercer has the horses to compete near the top of the SoCon this season. Gary is an excellent coach, and he’ll have one of the league’s best point guards running the show in 2021-22. In a competitive league, Mercer is right in the thick of things.

Expecting us to struggle a bunch early while trying to figure out the rotation. This group has the potential to be one of the best offensive teams in the nation.

Jaylin Williams (undisclosed)

Said back spasms during broadcast, then he dived for the ball and got blocked all the way to the ground and he went to the back and I haven’t seen him since.

Mercer is a damn good squad.

I've never seen so many screen's in my life. They wore our arse out with them.

Glad we got the W.

Going to be very important for Jaylin to stay healthy this year. We really need him on the defensive side of the ball. We don't have anyone that can do close to what he does on that side of the ball.

Toney's energy was massive. He created so many points for himself just by hustling around the rim.

Umude is going to need to be a major threat on the offensive side of the ball if he wants minutes because his defense is going to be a liability.

Going to be hard to find a team with two guards like Notae and Lykes that can both take almost anyone off the dribble.

This team is in desperate need of a true point. I'll be interested to see if KK with more opportunity can crave himself a role on the team because of that. Not sure Devo is ever the long term answer at that spot. Guess we will be juggling KK/Devo/Lykes and Notae at that spot for awhile.
