Way too early melt down thread.

Between the basketball loss and the 0-fer baseball weekend, it was like a punch in the gut.

Casey Martin's inability to grow as a baseball player and help this team is really going to hurt us this year.
I'm still hoping he can get it turned around because we need him.

But for the track teams winning the SEC yet again (though we might have lost some qualifiers for the Nattys) this was just about as miserable as a weekend can get for Arkansas sports. Ah well, not the first time and won't be the last.
I'm sure the baseball team will get better. The loss to Georgia in basketball though... we're going to need to get red hot in the SEC tourney.

Casey Martin
Casey Martin isn't the only guy on this team that's struggling at the plate.
We have a lot of pop in our lineup and the strategy seems to be to let them swing away. I imagine if DVH felt he had more consistent hitters then we would have better plate discipline. I'm not second guessing the man. He's pretty successful.
Seems more like a team that's waiting for someone to step up and be the leader.

That's like saying the '92 Chicago Bulls could have sat MJ and everything would have been fine. Martin isn't MJ, but I doubt we have anyone else capable of playing as well as he's played in the past.

We would be deadly with just a little plate discipline.

We aren't allowed to talk about issues here. Praise the team or be silent.

Again, I'm not knocking our approach, but I just prefer guys putting the ball in play. Swing and miss is pretty much always an out, but routine plays get botched all the time. I'd rather make the defense earn those outs.
Anyways, hopefully these guys get it going soon.

You and dale met up this past weekend and pulled on one another's peters after each loss, didn't you?

I'll chime in. Is this a safe space? Because after this weekend I think I should be wearing slippers to keep the shoelaces out of my cold, depressed hands
But for real, the basketball loss doesnt surprise me. It just ends any chance we may have had to get in, so I can move on to baseball, the sport we are supposed to be good at. But going 0-fer against the Big12 hurt bigtime. I was pissed all weekend. If our bats dont pick up we will find ourselves with a short season.

Kjerstad already starts and can't play SS.

I totally agree with you. I did think we were more patient against E. Illinois, so maybe DVH does too?
I'm sure many will disagree with this, but our biggest problem is pitching, imo. We've given up 25 runs in our 4 losses, which is over 6 runs/game. That's a lot to overcome, even when the offense is clicking.

Why not go full Arkansas lol.
Man this team is struggling. And I had high hopes for this year too.
Seems they got the big head and definitely do not have it together at this point.
