Keep seeing that we have a high profile Target and our budget is 4m/yr. That would fit Billy Donovan. This doesn't mean we miss and pick up a smaller fish.

What's the history between Billy and Arkansas? Could he do what he did at Florida here? All I remember of him was his final four runs before he left.

Who else fits 4m/yr high profile (asking)?

My reaction when we hire a small name coach:

He had some negative things to say about us regarding the Pelphrey situation. Pelphrey was his assistant.

And 2 NCs

The only other person that has been mentioned that would demand that is Marshall and maybe Matta if he is healthy.

I don't want to take that risk either but if someone can prove he is 100% healthy, he is worth that money.

Billy had some choice words towards Arkansas when we fired Pel…

I keep thinking Marshall for some reason...

Would fit the narrative that Sampson was smoke and there is another high profile candidate that we are in negotiation with, like the Houston reported said earlier this morning.

Besides the crack pipe dream of Donovan that would be best case likely scenario.

Agreed, it also shows us how well Hunter can conduct a coaching search if we are only really hearing one name the whole time and hires a different name that is very well respected as well.

Why in the world would you not want Matta? I can’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be at the top of anyones list, if he’s healthy.

He should be upper half of any list if healthy.

I mean he got fired from OSU and was on a downward trend.

Was it all because of health or what?

Yes, absolutely. He was having to even sit in a chair to coach. His back was such a problem. He couldn't recruit or handle the day to day stuff at all for a period of time.

Ah.

He's only 51, I'm kind of intrigued.

What makes anyone think Thad is suddenly healthy enough to coach? Maybe he is IDK but back problems usually don’t just go away.

Random twitter account:

Arkansas has reached out to UNT coach Grant McCasland. This after rumors have been circulating that Sampson isn’t as much of a lock as we thought. Oh boy.

I don’t think many think he is, why there are so many IFs attached to his name
