Nice of Vandy to let him phrase it that way the day after his felony arrest.

meh rb is a position that you can play freshman year easily. I didmt really see why we were taking one this year anyway unless we thought he was super elite. I mean we can take one next year and still have him learning the ropes his freshman year behind boyd

Agreed that a freshman could step in. But think we really need one this year with 3 of our 4 on the roster often injured. Some think there’s a decent chance Boyd could go pro after this year so we really need a freshman back this year for next year

you mean the year we just had or after next year? After next year maybe but if he does that after this year hes stupid as hell. Either that or he really wants to know what it's like on an nfl practice squad

Next. I am one of the one's who thinks he goes pro after next year. Though injury history may kill his chances, and fumbling. I think when it comes to running backs usually its play early, Leave early. running backs should leave the moment they are able to be drafted. Period. Shelf life is too short, and they do not get drafted early anyways.

Yes, I meant next year, my bad. This year’s done and gone, meant next year as this year. Completely agree with Russ, RB shelf life is very short so if you get the chance to go as a RB then you need to take it

We need a RB imo. We saw what happened against OM when Boyd got hurt. Whaley wasn't good this year. Hayden couldn't do much. Maleek left.

According to De'jon Harris, we'll add one more and be done with the early signing period

I saw on another board that he apparently visited Bush to try to convince him to sign early. So maybe there's some truth to that.

Not a done deal, but really good chance Bush signs Friday afternoon. No longer would enroll early but be huge just to sign him. He’s close with Gregory Brooks and Scoota’s been workin on him

20. Arkansas
quote:

Chad Morris is off the the right start with the Razorbacks in recruiting with the ability to get players to look beyond the 2018 season. Morris started off the right way with stronger junior day weekends on campus. His strong ties to Texas also helped the class climb into the Top 20. The Razorbacks got a lot better this week when it comes to impact offensive players and pass rushers. Dual-threat quarterback KJ Jefferson has a pair of four-star receivers in Trey Knox and Shamar Nash. Morris inked a pair of four-star defensive ends in Collin Clay and Mataio Soli.

quote:

SLEEPER CLASS ... Arkansas signed 19 prospects on Wednesday and holds commitments from eight more (including three 247Sports Composite 4-star prospects) — good enough for the nations’ No. 20 class. Coming of a 2-10 season, Chad Morris and his staff have done an excellent job in acquiring offensive difference makers while addressing needs along the line of scrimmage. Quarterback KJ Jefferson fits Morris’ mold of a productive dual-threat quarterback with significant upside. Signees Trey Knox and TQ Jackson along with commitments Hudson Henry and Treylon Burks are all big downfield targets capable of creating mismatches downfield. Defensive end Mataio Soli is an Arkansas legacy who had a monster senior season. On the offensive line the Hogs are bringing in two big junior college bodies in Myron Cunningham and Chibueze Nwanna along with one of the more underrated high school linemen nationally, Ricky Stromberg.

SLEEPER CLASS Arkansas has the No. 20 class in America led by a high upside four-star quarterback KJ Jefferson, a bevy of talented receivers led by Top247 recruit Treylon Burks and a deep defensive line group highlighted by four-star Mataio Soli. Sitting on 27 commits, this is a group that can really help Chad Morris and his staff quickly rebuild in Fayetteville.

quote:

Arkansas has put together one of the surprising classes in the country, and continued to strengthen it Wednesday by flipping four-star Louisiana defensive back Gregory Brooks from Mississippi State during the afternoon. Brooks initially committed to Mississippi State over Arkansas in June, but the Razorbacks coaching staff remained in pursuit over the next six months. An official visit to Fayetteville, which was followed by an in-home visit, seemed to solidify Brooks’ choice.

6. Four-star DB Gregory Brooks Jr. flips to Arkansas from Mississippi State

quote:

Brooks committed to Mississippi State in June but Arkansas, which came in second the first time around, never backed off. The persistence of Razorbacks head coach Chad Morris paid off and he ended up flipping the Louisiana native at the beginning of the Early Signing Period.

Personally I think our RB production will go up regardless as a byproduct of the improvements we're making on the line. I don't think we're in dire need of any help.

Let's say we lose Spivey... no clue if we will or won't. but let's say we do.
We had an instate kid at Hutchinson that just signed with Oklahoma State. Set several records while there.
And we totally whiffed on him. Prototype back for this offense too.
Check his highlights out. Dezmon Jackson Hutchinson CC.

and don't get me wrong... our staff did a heck of a job... I just hate to see us whiff on a RB from out of state when there was an in-state kid that would have loved to be there and could flat out play

I understand what you’re saying, but that wouldn’t help balance out the classes in the running back room either
