It’s not just improving, but doing so in a conference with sc, tn, msu, and now lsu with mulkey. It’s like everyone else in football trying to catch up with Saban, it’s not easy and takes a long time and patience.

This.

If you followed the team at all, it was clear they improved tremendously towards the end of the season. Had they not blown a huge lead at UGA or let a couple close ones slip away like UK and Miss. State, they would be in the tourney right now.

Curry should stay. Next year’s team will be the best squad since Rick Moody’s glory days.

Alabama Women’s Basketball Meets Troy in WNIT Round 1 Thursday

The Crimson Tide will face the Trojans Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m. CT on the road

The University of Alabama women's basketball team will meet Troy in the 2022 Women's National Invitation Tournament Round 1 Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m. CT at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala. TV and radio coverage of the in-state contest will be announced at a later date.

Tickets start at just five dollars, and fans are encouraged to attend. Tickets can be purchased at TroyTrojans.com/WNIT, calling 1-877-878-WINS (9467) or by visiting the Troy Ticket Office.

The WNIT appearance is the Crimson Tide's 18th in program history and fourth under head coach Kristy Curry. In its most recent appearance in the postseason tournament, Alabama won three straight games at home, before losing to Georgia Tech, 76-66, in the quarterfinals in Atlanta, Ga., on March 26, 2017.

Alabama has an 11-7 record in the WNIT.

Alabama was going deep in the tournament when Rick Moody was the coach.

And Nebraska was winning national titles in football back then. Anyone we’re recruiting wasn’t alive for those days much less remembers them.

Until we get the new arena there are no selling points to recruits for Alabama WBB over other SEC programs - none.

Easy to say that from the comfort of your recliner. Most people don't care about women's athletics... I get it.

the word for the day, for my post. Facetious - Treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant.

Gymnastics attendance has dipped in recent years but Bama lead the nation in attendance for many years, including Coleman Coliseum sellouts that were the largest ever crowd to watch a college gymnastics meet. The atmosphere for both of those can be incredibly exciting.

This is true. Outside of football, the most exciting sporting event I've been to were the gymnastics meets vs Georgia when both programs were at their peaks and Coleman was packed to the rafters. Loved that rivalry...nasty lol.

Yes they do. They stopped playing in Foster years ago….like 2016 or 2017.

No they won’t. If you’ve delved into Curry’s career at all, she has a history of improving a team to a point of average or slightly above and then either plateauing, or slipping backwards some. She has never gotten a team over the hump of mediocrity. We have little to lose at this point by trying to do better. There’s no more upside with Curry and it’s not very far back to the bottom. Take a calculated risk and hire a winner.

Seriously? I can't believe that. Foster was more than enough. Only reason I ever made it to a women's game was because it wasn't all the way at Coleman

From RollTide.com LINK
quote:

Women's basketball played 35 games in Foster from 1975-81, splitting time between Foster Auditorium and the main floor of Coleman Coliseum, until permanently moving to Coleman Coliseum from 1981-2011. Following the completion of the renovation, women's basketball played their final three home games of the 2010-11 season in Foster. They stayed there until 2016 when games moved back to Coleman Coliseum. Practices and administration continue to be housed in Foster Auditorium.

She's been to the damn final four

Making the tournament for the first time in 20 years buys you some time. We return some decent talent next year and signed the Tennessee high school player of the year. Should be a tournament squad. I don't think Kristy is going anywhere.

She INHERITED a team that made the Final Four, she’s never built one from scratch. She took over a good Purdue squad, didn’t screw it up and was natty runner-up in year 2. It was all downhill after that and she’s never even come close to matching that.

Another Curry got Alabama football within one game of a national title shot in 1989. Did that make him a good coach? I think most would disagree. Sometimes an average coach gets handed the keys to a Ferrari and they know just enough to be able to get it up to speed once around the track. But ask them to repeat the feat more than once and they can’t do it. Kristy couldn’t get it done at Texas Tech and now its the same story at Alabama. Time for a change.
