Will Billy Napier last until the end of the season?

I clearly don't have a dog in the fight but I have to wonder if Napier even lasts until the end of the season in Gainesville. He's not helped by having a really tough schedule but I have to wonder if the Gators get humiliated 1-2 more times (a very real possibility) that they don't can him mid season.
They don't seem terribly well coached and Graham Mertz was clearly not the answer at QB. It's kind of an ominous sign when the president of the UF made a point of being on the field at the end of the game and had a brief conversation with him.

I don’t think he lasts.

Apparently they'd owe him nearly $30 million if they fire him, so he's got that going for him.
It's going to depend on whether they can stomach the buyout. If they can he will be gone the minute they have the money. The writing is on the wall there. He has been awful and isn't getting it turned around.

It's going to be a long season for gata but a shorter one for Napier.

It seems like UF is constantly giving him the vote of confidence which means they already have the plan to fire him
.
You live and die by the QB a lot of times and with the options UF had in the portal, turning to Mertz is potentially going to cost him his job unless UF refuses to pay the buyout.
Maybe Lagway saves his job this year or next but I doubt it since they don't seem to be flush NIL wise.

Who will the interim be? Doesn't make much sense to fire him right now.

I think the play is to start search now. Try to really hire a home run or at least high profile high octane OC that will at least be fun to watch and put points on the board. Watching Florida play is almost like pewee football.

Alabama was very smart to get DeBoer when they did. He was a coveted coach in the industry and his style of play with offense would be very appealing at a program like Florida. UF is so bad and it’s hard to understand why with their in state high school football talent.

I still believe that Mario Cristobal is not a good football coach and will continue to believe it until Miami wins the ACC and makes some noise in the postseason.
But he and Napier both inherited their respective dumpster fires at the same time. Right now, there's no comparison between the two.

It's truly baffling. They have somehow just about removed all prestige that Spurrier and Meyer had created with UF and are really kind of an afterthought again. Under those two legacies UF was a tank. But even Urban couldn't get out of there fast enough. Sure he wasn't thrilled with having Saban at Alabama, but Urban wanted the hell out of Gainesville anyway. They hired their "dream replacement" twice with Muschamp and Mullen and neither could recruit. Just really hard to understand.

I feel that way as well. . One thing I will say, that UM O Line looks like a brick wall and the QB looks nice as well. All of that could be simply because UF is awful, but those two aspects impressed me yesterday.

He should have been fired last season.
They'll go after Lanning and end up having to replace him in three years.

Cristobal is good at the recruiting and administrative side of things and is mediocre to terrible at situational football and not getting his QBs injured unnecessarily.
Napier, having to lead a power 4 program, seems to be struggling at every aspect of running a major program on and off the field. If the rumors are true they don't have a strong NIL group (relative to their peers) in the market, his location in a fertile recruiting market will be nullified. He looks doomed.

Napier did a pretty good job at Louisiana. He beat Freeze at liberty and had good success there, he won two or three conference championships.
Napier is probably more suited to the Louisianas of the college football world and that’s not a knock against him, he may be more comfortable at that level. Some coaches know they’re lane they should stay in like Mark Stoops, he’s probably got the best job in cfb. Stoops can win eight games a yr till he retires and Kentucky fans will love him for it.

NIL transfers are saving Cristobal.

Schools and ADs really screwed themselves when they let agents start demanding, and getting, these ridiculous buyout clauses. Who really feels much pressure at all knowing there's a $30 million check waiting for you after sucking arse at your job.

I’ve been saying since the spring when I saw UF’s schedule there was no way Napier survives October. By Halloween, they will have an interim coach. That’s a shame, too. I really thought Napier was ready for the big time when he made it to Gainesville. He obviously was not. IMHO, his biggest mistake has been sticking with Mertz all this time. Mertz is a journeyman and a game manager not a game changer, unless you mean for the opposition. Billy’s days are numbered. $30 million ain’t chump change but it’s not outlandish compared to Fischer’s and Kelly’s buyouts. If they want him gone, they will find the $30 million.

Miami is the class of the ACC. Not sure that anyone beats them in the regular season. Not with that QB and not with that schedule. They might score 80 on FSU just cause.

They have as brutal of a finish as I've ever seen. They should probably wait until after they finish the season simply because that'll save them some money (I think). They're gonna be 4-8 at best.

I have been reading Gator message boards and most people thinks after the UCF loss mid season, he will be let go. His seat is boiling on overflow. UF does not have a permanent President right now or a really good AD. Their school lacks administrative support for the program. Not a good situation if you are a Gator
