Umm...I've watched his highlights and actual games...he's good but he has elite weapons around him at a highschool level.

I have too Joak but a lot have not looked as good as this guy. Watched a lot of film in my life and this guy ( although needing to tighten up his motion a bit) has an extraordinary feel for the game

Yes, and why does everyone hate Bob Ross? These are the totally legitimate questions we want to know.

Or, the reason Milroe starts is because of the players revolt theory, which makes A LOT of sense. Some people who claim to be insiders have claimed the story/theory is true.

I love how some of our posters who constantly trash Simpson when they have ZERO idea of what Simpson can do in a game and have never watched him in practice everyday or spent time with in a QB meeting.

99% of Simpson’s snaps in his career have been when Bama was up by 4-5 TDs and he’s handing the ball off or maybe running himself. Let this sink in, other than the USF game last year, he has NEVER played with the first team offense. So, how does anyone REALLY know what he can do?

And for the record, I tend to believe the player revolt story. Makes a lot of sense.

LSU was planning on B Underwood coming in and immediately taking Nussmeier's job, and improving their team. Why are we not thinking the same thing?

Because we’re not that retarded. Being able to out athlete 99% of the Hs players you play against doesn’t guarantee you start immediately in college. Underwood was never going to start over Nussmeier had he returned.

At least Jalen Milroe has SOMETHING special about him with his 4.4 speed. No one else we have is remarkable in any way, and that's why Milroe continues to start.

Then move him to RB because as a QB he’s absolutely killing us.

No one is “down” on Keelon Russell. The idea he’ll start as a freshman is just wildly unlikely and is the 2024 version of “Julian Sayin will start immediately”

It’s not happening, please stop with this silly take

Bro this isn't Alabama of 5 years ago where we have multiple future NFL starters on the roster.

Jalen fricking Milroe is our QB, and sadly, he probably is our best option.

If Keelon Russell is a future 1st rd draft pick like he's projected to be, he will start day 1.

God help us if Russell does start for us next year. He may do great and I hope he does but I can pretty much guarantee you that Simpson, Lonergan and Mack will all transfer out and walk on QB Cade Carruth will most likely be the #2 QB.

Having a walk on as your back up is kind of like tap dancing in a minefield. You have to hope and pray like hell that Russell doesn't get hurt.

I'd prefer Simpson or Mack or even Lonergan start with Russell getting some snaps in games to get his feet wet next year and then take over in 2026. HOWEVER, if Russell is hands down the best QB, then start him.

I guess it is possible the Milroe might opt not to play in our Bowl game in order to get ready for the combine. If so, then we will actually get a view of how he plays with the 1st team (minus others that will opt out as well).

We'll see.

Everyone is seemingly giving up on Mack,

Calm down.

No one has seen any of these guys in game situations.

No one has given up on any of them.

No one knows what would happen with an open competition at QB moving forward because Milroe had “won the locker room” as Saban delicately put it.

I’ve not heard from a single person down on Russell. Not one. But expecting him to start from day one on a CFP contender when Bryce, Tua and a host of other 5* guys couldn’t do so is likely optimistic.

Far more likely one of the other guys starts next year and Russell competes for the job the following year.

He's so selfish he might stay just to keep another QB from getting PT.

I think the QB battle will still be taking place in Tallahassee next August. Lonergan is likely to portal out. Mack and Ty will probably both get game reps early, and Keelon is the wild card. If he practices well and picks up the offense he’ll get reps too.

Lonergan will start for a P4 program next year though.

I believe there will be people that don't wear a uniform or Coach that will prevent that situation,

Correct, it’s a whole different animal now. It’s hard to bench, let’s say starting QB’s that getting paid substantial amounts of money and also that did a media circuit tour before the season promoting themselves and the university.

Also making yourself look like you proved all the “naysayers” wrong. That you overcame all odds and worked so hard to be the best QB in the country.

Now the reality to all that is BS. He’s a pretty good athlete playing QB that’s super fast, but cannot grasp the QB position. But the media still pumps him up, not as much as they did but does to a degree.

It’s easy for me to say he should be benched, but as a head coach having to deal with these over inflated ego’s and sponsorships that have invested a great deal of money in him to get a handsome return for their investment probably factors into it now more than ever. It’s serious business now.

In the past it would have been easy to pull him and bench him, but I’m not so sure now. Lots of shite going on behind the scene we don’t know about I would suspect.

Lonergan is ahead of Mack. He will likely portal over Simpson winning. And if Lonergan is ahead of Mack, there’s probably a wide gulf between Mack and Simpson because of age/development status and experience

I would assume Simpson starts for a year or two and then Mack/Russell takes over in that scenario (Simpson starter) at the age 20/21

Also anyone saying “Russell will start”, go look at your Sayin will start comments from last year then look at Sayin’s depth chart status. It’s not happening, put down the ayuhuasca

I don’t think it’s being “down” as much as it is knowing how difficult it is to come in and start as a TF, especially at a place like Bama.

More than likely we get Ty Simpson. Then the season after it’s Russell vs Mack vs etc.

Give Russell a year to settle in, learn the playbook, and get some garbage time. Then turn him loose in his 2nd year.

I don't think anyone is down on the high school senior quarterback. I think they're hesitant to assume a true freshman quarterback will start game 1 at UA. Jalen Hurts wasn't even the game 1 starter for us, he came in after Blake Barnett looked like he was having 'nam flashbacks out there whenever they'd do a close up of him after the play.
