Cochran made the position a highly visible one.
Cochran got too big for his britches. His act was starting to wear on folks. No doubt he did a great job. But, if I had the dudes he had to work with, I'd be a damn good strength coach.

One other thing. I also believe the new title/job that Butch Jones got pissed him off.

Yet, nobody mentioned it before he left.

Will miss him as the S&C coach.
Will not miss him as a special teams coach.

Of course they wouldn't. At least some class is left in the world. The Cochran show had run it's course.

I just want it to be Arron for personal reasons.. would be kinda cool for a kid that I helped train to become the Strength coach at Bama..or does that mean I really sucked since he has now surpassed me..lol

Who are two other candidates you would recommend if it's not Feld?

There really is a lot of good candidates out there.. it really comes down to what your looking for. I like cutting edge technology like
Tensiomyography or TMG. We do currently use the Catapult System, but could use it more. Jeff Allen is damn good.
(Guess which system UGA added last year..lol)
I also like high energy guys that motivate and get players spirits up. More of a players coach at that position, someone the players can vent around and let off steam in the weight room.
David Ballou Would be a great hire.
I really like Paul Jackson.. he seemed to get the most out of his guys at ole miss. Players coach too..Look at Metcalf and others. He is at USC east now..
Alex Spanos is a young name to watch.. we won’t hire him, but he might be the next big name. He is cutting edge and rising fast. Gaining a lot of respect early and should get a head gig soon.
I really feel young, energetic, up to date on technology and players coach.. Arron checks those boxes. But Saban knows what he is looking for and what he wants. I trust his hire and I’m sure Jeff Allen will kinda have somewhat of a voice in it.

Very good information even though SOG says no one knows or cares anything about S&C coaches.

I said average fans - Bo is not an average fan. He's a high school coach who is very connected and knowledgeable on this stuff.
He's probably one of the few here who can speak to individuals we are interviewing and their techniques and truly have an idea what he is talking about.

Could Saban go the pro sports route for the new strength and conditioning coach? Remember Cochran was at LSU under Saban then the NOLA Hornets
