I'm probably biased because I was on the Marlon Humphrey hype train during his recruitment, but I think so yeah. Humphrey was way better than most, if not all, first year starters at CB under Saban in 2015 and in 16 he wasn't shutdown but he was really good. He was brought along slowly this year by the Ravens, but ended up having a really solid rookie season in terms of how he performed. He even had a game against the Steelers where, while Brown fed, he got basically nothing when Marlon was covering him. Had he come back for 2017 I'm sure he would've been the undisputed best shutdown CB in college football. Dude has every single tool and I think he's often under appreciated, though it felt like he came and went very quickly.

Pretty unfortunate Barron didn't work out at safety. Watching on the Rams now he's a decent player. But doesn't have near the athleticism he had at bama

No Alabama DB has ever in my memory won the awards that Minkah did. He's in some pretty elite company with Woodson and Peterson. I'll go with the people that hand out these awards and say Minkah is the best- although Kirkpatrick was pretty good. So was Tommy Wilcox.

I'm convinced hunphrey wasn't focused in '16 because he was pretty remarkable as a rookie for the Ravens. As a pure talent he's probably the best corner I've seen at bama. But def not one as far as consistency or accomplishments

Minkah is probably the the 2nd greatest all around defensive player we've ever had after DT in my humble opinion.

You people are so quick to forget Rashad Johnson too. Man y’all have short memories.

Most underrated is Levi Wallace.

I noticed his technique and form in the background on some of the pass plays that went away from him in the NC, and he could make an instructional video on how to play DB. The guy is like a cornerback robot.

Not the most talented, but the most learned cb of the Saban era IMO.

I was about to come in here with McNeal. Great Dolphin. The Goal Line Stand doesn't happen without his great play at the one yard line.

(Just read that he is fighting MS. Damn.)

Jeremiah Castile was pretty good. There are also others that are older that would have legit arguments to be on the list.

Barron has been really good since he moved to LB. The game just changed and people needed more speed on the field, and he has done a great job with the Rams.

Not to mention Barron had some real trouble in coverage even when he was at Bama, especially in 2010.

but it makes sense. Barron is built like a linebacker. I remember seeing him at the BP on University when I lived down the street from there, and being amazed at home big he was(no homo.)

Can't allow it.

Teague had two monster plays in a national championship game.
