I know it will be at 5 years down the road when he retires, hopefully 10, but who would you pick out of the current known candidates available?

I'm going Dabo, I know he is a goofy, aww shucks, mostly fake, but I think he could win a few championships here and our recruiting wouldn't drop off much. I could put up with his schtick if he is winning. Plus he gets points for having played here and being from Alabama.

I will be 60 by then. The direction the game is headed, I will probably give up watching NCAAF and work on bonsai trees

I say we being back Mike Shula. He is older, wiser, and more mature now

I have a feeling Billy Napier is seeing himself up nicely. If he had another good year at Louisana, he will move to a bigger program and if he can be successful there for three years, he would have major consideration when CNS retires.

Whoever ends up replacing him in 2030 is not even currently on the radar.

I hope Nick will coach at least 3 more years and then Dabo will take the gig.

Can't say - I will have to see what coaches are hot and would be willing to come coach The Tide in 2031

Maybe Napier? I could see him jumping to LSU if they get rid of Coach O soon and we see how he does there for a while.

People want to rip on Dabo, but of current "candidates" he should be the first call when it happens after the 2029 season... assuming Clemson hasn't fallen off a cliff.

But I will offer my services at 15% of Saban's salary. My agent (wife) can handle negotiation details.

Based on our history......

1. No hot assistants or up an comers

2. Cannot be a weakling or nice guy. Run a youth group, we're trying to run a football team.

2. Must have experience winning a relevant championship

3. Seriously, Alabama is historically pretty good when someone who knows what they're doing is in charge. Start right at the top, make Lincoln Riley say no and work your way down.

Don’t even want to think about this.
When Saban retires , I might retire too.
Just thinking out loud.

"I could put up with his schtick if he is winning."

Much as I hate to admit it, I probably could too. However, I just don't think "we're just little ole Alabama" would work -- and I don't mean "wouldn't work" in a P.R. sense. I don't think it would work at all -- with motivating players, or with anything else.

But, what do I know?

Bama would have been so much better off had Coach Stallings been the choice instead of Ray in 83. JMO

I don't think recruits are caring right now who will be the coach in 2030.

And Clemson really is "little 'ol Clemson"...or was until the last 5-6 years. I don't think Dabo would use the same schtick if he were at Bama.

I don’t think we know who that guy is yet. The list will be totally different when that day comes. We’ll see.
