I also think we have ZERO coaching from Chris Kapilovic. He's a very mediocre coach.

Yeah, we haven’t had a good OL coach since 2020. I don’t understand why we can’t find a good OL coach.

I know that but our running issues is not limited to yesterday. We haven’t had a 1k yard rusher since 2020 and we have struggled to run the ball since then. I’m not saying we should be running the ball like we did in 2015 but we should be able to at least average 4 yards a carry.

I read this article ( LINK) about Grubb leaving Seattle after the FSU game, and it was painfully familiar. Point taken on Wisci's run D being elite; we'll just need OC to mix it in the rest of the season as competition ramps up.

Alabama run game has a comflict in styles / body types / D front formats.

CKD/Grubb historically have used lighter OL with heavy use of pulling concepts that require more athletic body types rather than road graders. That better agilityalso better fits passpro needs. The problem when facing the top end teams in the SEC and BIG is that their DL tend to be bigger stronger body types that the lighter OL can't plow out of running lanes.

This mismatch showed up when Grubb's system faced the NFL front 7 types and his run game did not work. Where do the best NFL DL players tend to come from? SEC and BIG! Who are CKD and Grubb facing more often now than they ever have in their past? SEC DL with a little BIG blended in.

UGA, UT, LSU, AU have big athletic DL's. Texas under Sark is moving their DL structure to better aline with the top end of the SEC. T a&m bought a big strong DL class but has not utilized it properly.

CKD/Grubb have a group of big slow body types (upper classes) with a small / more atletic coaching style and system. Until the system and body types match the execution will not meld. Once the body types and system mesh they will still be at a disadvantage when the face a UGA type of DL. They will have to be good enough with the passing game and pass pro to overcome power run stoppers that can shut down the run game with 4 people and keep 7 in coverage.

Agree…AK almost broke two runs that would have gone to the end zone if the blocker had stayed on his man just a second longer. Really like how Dear finds and quickly slices thru small creases in the line. He’s going to be a top rb, Riley is looking good, great hands for a rb.

Totally agree. I appreciate your OL knowledge, i can tell you know the game very well. But i dont think those observations are incredibly difficult to see. Point being, our staff should be able to self scout those issues headed into the UGA game. So either they are stubborn about doing it with pieces that dont fit, or they will use the bye week to try to run some different sets and take advantage of what they have. Roberts probably needs to be out there bc he is a big strong mean mother fricker. But i think they love the idea of GVDM and PB rolling out on some exotic counters.

And does anybody know what is going on at right tackle?

The issue with the running game yesterday is that we were playing an opponent whose absolute strength is run defense. Everyone on Wisconsin’s schedule, including Ohio State, is going to play hell trying to run the ball against them.

Their entire 2 deep is RS Srs and graduate transfers.

Not disagreeing with your post but wasn't Grubbs in Seattle one year or so? I don't think they replaced any ol during that time for smaller ol. I think he was trying to make his system work with what they had. I believe he was let go because he wasn't running it enough. I could be wrong just basing this off memory.

Formby tries but he’s just too slow. Why Michael Carroll doesn’t replace him is mystifying. Same with Proctor. It’ll probably be a great mystery that we’ll never the answer to.

Proctor and Formby are definitely too slow due to their weight. I'd like to see them sit the bench and give the young guys a shot to see what they can do as starters. If they aren't better, then bring Proctor and Formby back in. It might help their attitude and motivation to sit for awhile.

He got let go because the head coach is a defensive guy who wanted his offense the ball first and that’s not Grubb’s deal and he wouldn’t or couldn’t adjust and typically if you don’t do what your boss wants you to, you get let go.

Florida State we were playing from behind and abandoned the run on a fast scoring offense

Wisconsin stacked the box all day and asked us to throw, so we did. Georgia will do the same thing

A quality team takes what the defense gives it. There’s no upside in trying do what the defense is trying to stop you from doing just to prove your manhood or something.

Agreed. Jam isn’t a game changing rb, imo. But, he may very well be perfect for this offense. Hard running when the attempts come and he has to be great out of the backfield catching the ball.

Just my .10 cents and obviously scrimmages didn’t mean much but Jam runs angry. I think he will do well when he comes back, he is also an excellent receiver out of the backfield and on the line.

Thanks Boz. I value your opinion. I think Jam will improve the running game for sure.

I’ll just say it, it’s talent.

After Ingram, Richardson, Lacy, Drake, Henry, Najee, Gibbs, etc, we finally have an average RB room. Our room is filled with just a bunch of average RBs, not one pushes the needle or is elite.

Starter out. O-line can’t get a push. Young has also been a disappointment. Has he broken a single tackle? Goes down when anyone breathes on him.
