This is something I have wondered about. We hate him for the way he left, etc, but why does he hate us so much? Was there bad blood with him and coach before he left? Is it a jealousy thing? I’m genuinely curious what made him be like he is.

I dunno that he hates us, he's just a relentless competitor who knows we are who he has to beat in every aspect of his program to get where he wants to go. And it's clearly frustrating to him that he has done so many great things there but has yet to figure out how to get past us.

Did I miss something? If not, i think he knows that 9 wins and no trophies is what got Richt fired. So he is trying to get to the top of the mountain so to speak and Bama has definitely taken away from his accomplishments

Would he be in play to succeed Saban when the time comes?

He’s the gossipy slimeball in every workplace. Just look what he did with our recruiting board. By nature those people hate the competition.

It’s also gotta eat him up that his 2017-2020 teams would have been dynasty caliber 10 years ago

Kirby can't get over the Bama hump. That is why he hates Bama. Will not happen till Saban retires.

I think SOG is right. Kirby is desperately seeking to emulate Saban's/Bama's success at UGA. He doesn't hesitate to be unscrupulous if he thinks it'll help him. There's a key lesson in core values that Kirby has failed to learn yet from Saban -- integrity -- doing the right things for the right reasons. We'll see if Kirby ever realizes it.

And he has in probably 75% of his program. But the last 25% he can't seem to mold together, and it's (understandably) driving him crazy.

I do think they made a really good hire with Monken. If he sticks around (which is a risk with hires like that, as we know), with the incoming QB they have and a healthy Daniels, they will be a much better offense.

Kirby has successfully emulated Alabama from his time there from 07-15.

Elite defense, strong running game and a game manager QB.

Unfortunately for Kirby, times have changed. Offense rules college football now and Kirby hasn't adapted to it like Saban has.

I seriously doubt it. He grew up in Georgia, played high school ball in Georgia, played and grauated from UGA. Not everybody, but a lot of people are never totally happy till they return to the home they love. It's why you never really know what Dabo Swinney will do if the he is every offered the job at UA. Well, that and the possibility he may want to prove he can do win it all somewhere else, and there is no other somewhere else that offers as good an opportunity as The University of Alabama, his alma mater.

I think you're conflating a general lack of integrity or professionalism with animosity. Kirby is a dishonest piece of shite that would throw his own mother into oncoming traffic to win a championship, but I don't think he harbors any particular ill will towards Alabama.

I think he harbors ill will towards Saban. I think ole Kirby spent one or two too many years in Saban's shadow and it made him bitter and resentful. He hates being seen as nothing more than part of Saban's coaching tree and would do just about anything to try to prove he's overtaken Saban as the best coach in college football. I've never seen someone burn bridges behind them as fast as Kirby did. I think once he had what he wanted, head coach at his alma mater, he felt like he didn't need Saban anymore. I find it interesting that Kiffin speaks with more respect and gratitude about Saban than Kirby ever has. I think Kirby is a truly selfish individual and believes he got where he is on his own and resents that anybody gives Saban credit for what he sees as his accomplishments.

Somewhat harsh, but I think you are on it. Kirby's not overflowing with decent qualities to start with. He's getting paid to be loyal to Georgia and that's fine. But he has taken some cheap shots and done some crappy stuff. He just doesn't carry himself like a classy person. That's on him.

Sorry, but there is no excuse for stabbing your mentor in the back, and trashing his name before you even get a foot out the door.

That in no way has to do with being a competitor. That has everything to do with being a man of little character, principle, or dignity.

BTW, Kirby inherited a loaded team during the weakest period in SEC East history, and really hasn't done much with it. In fact it would appear that his teams are trending downward as Richts players are being replaced with his own.

Imagine UGA talent with Lane Kiffin or Sark running the show over there. Yikes. Lets all hope Kirby is there for another 50 years.

He belongs at uga. Makes all those uga tears even sweeter.

Oh I wasn't saying it was all on the up and up......I just don't think it's out of a "hate for Alabama". I think it's all done out of a "I want to be where they are".

Basically what Robot said.

And since he hasn’t been able to best Saban honorably, now he’s taking shortcuts to try and get the job done. UGA is playing a dangerous game on the recruiting trail. I’m a little surprised the Nakobe Dean thing didn’t blow up in their face since it’s been said that Ole Miss turned them in when they got outbid.

So was Gene Stallings at Texas AM. It's possible the honeymoon could be over w/n five years.

I believe that is why UGA hired Kirby. They thought he could bring in the Saban formula for success
