Hurts is giving up yards to avoid contact.
You really think that?
Suggesting last year that Hurts played scared would get you brutally attacked, and you got all upvotes and 0 downvotes.
But I think he's playing much better this year. Perhaps to do with the fact he's not under as much pressure to produce. That, plus, if he doesn't commit to the game plan as well as he can, he surely won't see the field. He's still prone to take off for the right sideline but not nearly as often. I kind of think, now, that he'll stick with the team this year, get as much playing time as possible, improve with Enos coaching him up, then transfer as a graduate student.
I kind of regret that Tua won't get enough time to win a Heisman, but on the flip side, he won't be as likely to be, uhhh, hurt. Speaking of which, I was glad to see him sliding down rather than taking a hit every time.

I'm not technically inclined enough to know how good he is as a blocker, but he is really good as a receiver.
I would imagine he's considered at least an adequate blocker by the staff or he wouldn't be playing as much as he does.

Count me on board as well...he's all over the place back there...may have the most range of any safety we've had...and he can come up and deliver a hit on running plays. Kinda like a cross between HaHa Clinton-Dix and Ronnie Harrison...

I was very much impressed with how the secondary played. Ole Miss didn't have much of a run threat, though, so we'll probably learn more next week.

I'm still honestly not sure how good or bad Ole Miss is. I don't think they are nearly as bad as we made them look.

Southern Illinois dropped 38 on them in the first half. They are every bit as bad on defense as we, and Southern Illinois made them look. Lots of teams are going to score a lot of points on them.

The Ole Miss defense is pretty bad. I’m talking Big XII bad. Now the job we did on their offense was pretty impressive.
I’m worried about the day that will come when our starters have to play 60 minutes. Will they be ready? It’s nice that they are getting to rest and stay healthy while “errybody eats” but I hope Cochran is doing his job well and they can go 4 quarters if needed.
Will Texas A&M present more of a challenge or will it be more of the same?

I don't think many teams, if anyone, is going to keep them to single digits scoring though. I know their defense is atrocious.

WTF Milner, cut it out.
What? Cut out an observation about last year, or cut out observation that Jalen played well yesterday and I think he may stick around, or that Tua may not get enough playing time for the Heisman but won't be as likely hurt.
Anyway, I thought this board was all just fun and games for you. Nothing about it serious. Be consistent, eh.

I'm team Who needs ball security/gunslinger, so Tua has been a big disappointment on that front.

Ok. That's mucha better.
All jokes and petty stuff aside, I am pretty darn optimistic about this season.

You are always good for a laugh. You totally missed the point of my comment. I am impressed with you being more reasonable. It is a good look for you.

We need to figure out ways to get Waddle the ball a lot more. Aside from Tua, Waddle is our most dangerous offensive weapon. He should be getting tons of touches

I’m not saying he’s playing scared at all. That’s a completely different situation. But he is definitively heading out of bounds early when he could pick up another 2-3 yards by turning up field and making contact. Playing scared? Nope. Worried about injury because he’s thinking about his future with his next team? Probably. Can’t say I wouldn’t be in the same mindset if I were in his position but it’s still irritating to watch.

No doubt. Waddle looks good so far.
