Just talked to my two best sauces (code names Polynesian and Chikfila) and they tell me that Najee might come back, unless some things change and then he might go pro.

I fear he might end up like Bo Scarborough and drop even further if he waits another year. I doubt his speed is going to get better and with all the backs Bama has he may see reduced production by splitting carries. I want him back but I can’t sell myself on a good enough reason for him to stay.

Looks like Najee has come full circle. From a freshman wondering the meaning of his football life because of minimal playing time to actually contemplating a senior season. Damien came back because of unfinished business at a very personal level and I suspect Najee has similar ambition if he sticks around.
I love his size and skill level. He's always been such a shifty dude for such a big body and we certainly know his pass receiving skill is as good as it gets for the position. Sign me up for another year of Najee.

I hope Najee does whatever makes him the happiest.He is a great player but Bama will be fine at RB either way.

I am pretty sure I could work with him if someone else could float the cost. I am certain I could get him down to a 5.5 40 yd but I doubt I could push him into the 5.4's
Any takers?

Not to mention having a senior leader at RB while breaking in a new QB

Agreed. Selfishly would love to have him back. And of course we don't have nearly as much information about this situation as he does, but it seems like it makes most sense for him to go.

Najee needs to find an extra gear.
I don’t think he can, tnough.
Weren't these shoes guaranteed to take .2 seconds off a 40 time? Give him a couple pairs and he'll steal Trey's Heisman and be a #1 pick!

That's freaking awesome. Damien Harris proved that you can add an extra gear in the offseason with diet and speed training. He always got caught from behind his first two years but was taking them to the house his junior year. It won't kill us to lose him but we are better with him than without. Roll Tide Najee.

To summarize some of the above.
Returning to college means for Najee Harris:
- one more year of thread on the tires at a position with a short shelf life;
- carries with it the risk of sustaining an injury (esp. if he wants to showcase his 'Michigan' ability on a weekly basis);
- brings no clear path to a higher draft grade,
- while improving his 40 time could be achieved by working with a specialized track & field coach.
So (and I hate to say this about juniors): the smart choice for him is to declare.

Damien was a little soft in the midsection. Najee is a tank.

Some have Najee ranked as the fourth best back in the draft. That would likely cause him to go in round 2. If he stays a year, there is a good chance he becomes one of the top three backs (if not the top) on the board next year, even if nothing improves from last year. The draft doesn't line up well for him this year, but money is money.

Saw your first "T-Watts" post and was thinking how the hell would Tyler Watts know?
Guess I was still caught up in the late 90's/early 00's nostalgia from earlier in the week.
