Yeah, NCAA enforcement. The same clowns that said they couldn't find enough evidence that $Cam's daddy got paid for his services. Even though MSU basically admitted they got outbid.

Prediction: I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if we have a season, and Auburn has a decent year, and Bama has a better year, Pearl is taking a job offer if he gets one. He will be looking for a way out of Auburn because if Bama is reestablished as the premier program in the state, his job gets infinitely more difficult. If someone like a Texas or Wake Forest comes calling, I think he goes.

I don't think us being good at basketball would affect Sweaty Bruce's job. Auburn all but concedes in state basketball recruiting to us and mostly focuses on Atlanta, where our recruiting presence is sporadic at best. There is no present barrier to both programs being simultaneously good. That said, Bruce has a massive ego and an endless appetite for attention, so sharing the media's love with someone else would probably irritate the shite out of him.

Wake just hired a coach (Pearl's old assistant from Tennessee) and would be a step down for him. Pearl isn't going anywhere, I don't think. I think he's built something at Auburn, he likes it, he thinks he can win big there and the school went to bat for him when not many others would.

I hope he stays and Oats starts winning on the court. That 2nd game in Auburn last year was electric, and it'd be awesome to consistently have NCAAT teams battling each other in the state.

Also, Auburn was about to go to their 3rd straight NCAAT (including a Final Four). We got a ways to go to catch and surpass them as the "premier" basketball school in the state.

This sounds like something an LSU fan would type about Saban.

Bruce is a good coach but so is Nate. Basketball in this state will be at heights we’ve never seen

I’m all for that.
But I’d be stoked to win the sec tournament for starters.

I would settle for playing not Kentucky in our second game.

True... but I want Kentucky to feel that way about playing Bama. At one time they did

In Coach Johnson’s first year, he signed Donta Hall, Dazon Ingram, and Brandon Austin. Hall wound up developing into a nice defender, but ultimately, that class was ranked 73rd. His next year, he only managed to sign two players: Braxton Key and JUCO ArMond Davis. Both transferred after one year. And it was only ranked 50th anyway. 2017 was the aforementioned Sexton class. And then 2018 was Kira Lewis, Diante Wood, and Javian Davis. Lewis by himself was good enough to boost the Tide up to the 24th ranked class, but the other two were middling 3-star prospects, and Wood never even played for the Tide.

This article makes some good points that maybe we overvalued Avery’s recruiting. If you dig deeper the only great players he got were Collin, Kira, and Petty. The rest were meh/average and then on top of that he couldn’t develop them once they got here

Give Oats what Avery recruited and Oats would’ve had those teams in the tournament every year. Talent wasn’t bad, but development was horrid.

The talent was pretty bad. Hall, Giddens, Bola, Reese, Galin, Davis. Those were Avery's front court options. If your guards are good enough your bigs don't need to be scorers, but they need to defend and rebound well. Hall and Bola fit that role, but they were the only two. And a coach who wants to push the tempo doesn't have a lot of use for any of those guys besides Hall.

Among his newer programs involved: Alabama. The Tide have shown their recruiting facets off as of late landing a Top-10 class nationally for 2020 in just the new staffs second season working in the program. They recently completed a zoom call and have expressed their interest but nothing past that.

Rumors that there is a big 2021 commitment today, but I don’t know who or what team.

I’m guessing 5* SG Max Christie going to Michigan State. He has picked up several CBs in the last 48 hours
