I don't know if it's the Major League gif or your statement, but I'm reminded of Milroe's ... Ole' BS

PS - Ty, just don't drop the ball until after you pass the goal-line.

I wouldn't go that far. Milroe had plenty of successful games before 2024 UGA. He had multiple games of 3 passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs. The week before at Wisconsin he had 3 passing TDs and 3 rushing TDs with a QB rating of 225.7. It wasn't a one off game.

Sure. From the 2nd half of the 2023 Tennessee to 2024 Georgia, Milroe cosplayed as a good if not very good QB. But he didn’t have eye-popping numbers other than the LSU game. He had one game of over 250 yards passing in that time frame

The anomaly about 2024 Georgia is that it was by far the best throwing performance of his career (375 yards) at a high volume (33 throws) against a Top 5 team

I hope he's improved over his play he's exhibited in his limited playing time so far.
I expect him to do so.
However, I'm not gonna just assume right now that he is a Heisman candidate either. He's got to show us all.
And he certainly needs to be more than just a game manager this season.
We play some serious competition and a mere game manager will not guarantee a win.

Passing? I think they will.

Running? Also possible.

I think the poster was referring to the wild hair crazy playground plays from sheer athleticism that Milroe was capable of unleashing as he was screwing up the routine plays that Simpson will probably be able to make with his eyes closed.

I just want Ty to be an efficient, boring Quarterback. Take what the defense gives you- whether that's running for 5 yards, throwing it for 60, or throwing it into the 3rd row.

Basically, be AJ McCarron

Ty is going to go out there to make plays through the air and with his legs. We not getting Nussmeier'd with 7-10 eight play plus drives a game and only scoring 21-24 points. Pimpson is going to ball.

If you’re looking for boring I think you might be a tad disappointed

Good news that someone has stepped up, glad to see Ty rewarded for sticking around. Appreciate the coaching staff actually naming a QB before game1.

Listening to Grubb talk about the difference between this year and last year in camp on turnovers is pretty eye opening. Sounds like last year we had no one who could run the offense with any confidence

I'm good with it. This is not a knock on Coker....but....Ty is a much better QB than Coker and Bama still won a natty with an average QB in Coker.

Based on what exactly? You're crowning a guy who started exactly one game against a bargain bin team from a conference no one's heard of, and played like absolute shite, "much better than Coker"? This is a straight Tidefans take.

In three seasons as a backup at Bama, the only statistical edge Simpson holds over Coker’s lone 2014 backup numbers at Bama is rushing. Passing? Coker still beat him in yards, touchdowns and efficiency despite having far fewer opportunities to pad his stats.

And before any snowflakes like bama07 get their g-strings in a twist, I'm not saying Ty is going to shite the bed. I’m just wondering how this myth that he's "much better than Coker" even started.

Meh... I would be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical. He hasn't seen and meaningful playing time through 2 previous coaches, despite being behind milroe, who we know had many issues. Idk... I guess we'll see

I wouldn't get to worried about it. I actually think we're in the best situation possible. We've got a first time starter who is an older upper classman that's been around the program for four years, gotten acclimated to the environment and is now 22 years old. He's not a kid, but from a college football standpoint he's now a grown man with three four years under his belt of college life.

There have been too many reports coming out of camp by people not affiliated with the team that he is no doubt the best quarterback on the team, has full command of the offense and has looked very good. So you have to take that into consideration as well. I wouldn't press the panic button just yet. I'd let a few games go by before I considered doing that.

I don’t think there is a good modern comparison. Coker was probably the biggest “gamer” of the Saban era but is not really similar to Simpson

I think gunslinger is a good term. The sample size is small, but Simpson did seem to be a bit reckless with the ball a few times. Some of that was probably just wanting to make plays. We will see if it's something he does regularly, but I don't think he will be reckless as the starter.

Blake Sims was the only Saban QB to throw 10 INTs in a season. Milroe had 11 last year. The other starters averaged about 6 per year.

Good catch! I totally forgot the guy who played like arse for three quarters didn't technically start the game... Which brings me right back to my original question: what exactly makes Ty "much better" than Coker?
