You won't get any argument out of me, and this idea that if he were better he would be starting just doesn’t pass the smell test.

This is about the truth of it. Locker room politics has Jalen Milroe under center, not talent.

Sayin can't beat out Devin Brown who wouldn't even make the Bama, meanwhile Mack is heir apparent at Bama based on his pocket ability, elite measurable.

It sad but true, it is why Mack is "technically" 4th. Good part is next year, no politics with the new staff. Mack will move past Simpson and Lonergan. It is going to be a big year.

I think two different staffs have been handcuffed by the emotions of people in and around the program. Milroe has done a great job marketing himself as QB1, has clearly won the locker room, and is a great representative.
It’s staggering that people think coaches would risk their livelihood by making personnel decisions like this, particularly at the most important position on the field.

I’m personally still waiting for Phillip Sims to take the reigns
I heard he was spotted at the game with D Carter. It will be the best QB/WR combo in the country.

We watched Ty last year against USF and we also saw him last night. He did nothing in either one of those games
He’s thrown 72 passes that we’ve seen against a full defense, Only 9 of those were against USF, and he completed 5 of them for 70+ yards. That game is so irrelevant now, but you guys love to bring it up like it matters.

The greatest coach of all time started a struggling Jalen Hurts over one of the best quarterbacks we’ve ever had until he was forced to make a change.
Coaches make these decisions for a lot of reasons, and it’s not always based on talent.
To be clear, I don’t think they make those decisions like that when there are large gaps in talent. I think in this case, Milroe is a good player - good enough to win a lot of games. He has also successfully made himself the face of the program, because he’s got a great personality and is a great representative & ambassador.
But Ty Simpson is a better quarterback.

Apples to oranges in those situations. We had no incumbent entering last season and Simpson came out of camp third string. You can keep saying he’s better but it’s not based on anything but your hope.

No doubt Ty has talent based on his overall body of work. But you see Austin Mack going 6/9 at A-Day with the bottom of the roster and you can clearly see he is next. No running around, delivering the ball quickly and on time from the pocket. Ty does a lot of scrambling and which has lowered his completion percentage overall. I think the coaching staff wherever he transfers will settle that down though.

You can go to YouTube and watch every pass & run Ty Simpson has had. It’s not hard.
Ty is better.
Our hope should be that Milroe plays well enough this year for an NFL team to take a chance on him in the First Round. We won’t reach our full potential as an offense as long as he’s here and not making dramatic improvements with his reads, progressions, and pocket presence.

I’ve never heard of that guy before. My bad.
He doesn’t take things too seriously. He jokes around a lot.

I’m pretty happy he left. I never liked his smug arse face. I’m glad I get to cheer against him. Julian is a stupid name

My biggest fear is that Milroe somehow decides to stay another year and Ty transfers out. He’s going to be a star for us next year if he’s here.

If the staff would have went with BB8 in 2016, Alabama would have had a down field passing game and would have destroyed Clemson in the NCG that year.
BB8 forever!!!
BB8 forever!!!

If Milroe struggles at any point, the fans will start calling for Simpson. I could see it happening against Georgia.

How long will the coaches wait?
One loss, two losses?
One loss, two losses?

Yep. That will be the watershed moment for DeBoer. Georgia will put pressure on us all night. If Milroe struggles I’m interested to see how the staff handles the situation.
