Define rebuild and define continuation.

You're right, Alabama isn't Washington. Washington beat Texas year and played for a title. Alabama didn't.

How would you do a continuation of the GOAT? Hire Lane Kiffin? Hiring Lane Kiffin would have stopped all the players that joined because they wanted to be coached by the GOAT?

How many players have transferred to Ole Miss from Bama during Kiffin's tenure?

Byrne hired the coach that was just in the national championship, has a stellar winning record, and extremely respected, and is assembling a hell of a good staff of winners.

I don't think most people here are expecting anyone to be ecstatic.

By that same token, it's similarly illogical for anyone to be suicidal right now.

Acknowledging that this is just a transition period and that all of this is still unknown makes the most sense, IMO.

I asked for before Saban announced his retirement/left. Not AFTER.

To help you out....

TWENTY players were in the portal before Saban announced his retirement (Pre 1/10)

TEN players entered the portal after Saban announced retirement (Post 1/10).

We didn't think that we wouldn't have turnover after people come to play at Bama under the GOAT. He has always been a top reason why folks come to Bama.

ETA: Updated to remove a mischaracterization.

No, this amount of turnover shouldn't be okay and needs to stop being rationalized because you want to pump sunshine.

We didn't need a rebuild. We needed a continuation.

Instead we hired a guy who is happily dumping off all the talent the GOAT accumulated to ensure the next coach had a easier ride.

Yet you guys think we're idiots for not being ecstatic about it.

BINGO. Continuity was key to hitting the ground running. Now we're taking a step back.

And to top it off the guy who can’t keep the team assembled is not know as a recruiter. The likelihood of him putting an elite team on the field 2025 on is very slim.

UT had over 30 players enter the portal when they fired Pruitt, not a word was said here. UW has 27 in right now. Auburn lost 31 players to the portal and had more than half of their recruiting class decommit. No one seemed to care about that here.

Oklahoma had it rough too when Riley left- between transfers and NFL draft, they only returned 2 starters.

I think we're in much better shape than OU was that year, but they've quickly gotten back on track.

so 8 players leaving is too much? Did you expect none to leave? Give me a number? What is acceptable to you?

You have no facts to back up anything. You're way too emotional. His resume speaks for itself and you just look foolish at this point.

Y'all... Stop melting. This amount of turnover by players is expected in today's NIL world. Give the new staff (a great staff, btw) time to work.
Exactly. Half of these kids took their Bama recruiting photos wearing Saban's signature straw hat. Nobody but Saban was going to hang on to all these recruits.

Out of the TEN players entering the portal... No one wanted McLaughlin or Roydell Williams for multiple reasons. So we are saying we have an issue with EIGHT players leaving under DeBoer?

You got it wrong. Roydell and McLaughlin were both pre Saban retiring.
This is who left post
Kayden Proctor
Caleb Downs
Isaiah Bond
Julian Sayin
Trey Amos
Amari Niblack

First, that number is growing by the hour. Second, quality is bigger than quantity. You're losing the cornerstone of your defense and future at quarterback.

I don’t know where they are getting 8. It’s 10 and I posted all of them twice in this thread. Lol

Cornerstone of defense? I thought Moore was the signal caller and he's staying. Losing a QB that hasn't seen the field yet and most likely wasn't going to this year either.

Sure, that can be disputed. And Downs was staying until he wasn't.

If you're not planning your future around recruits, why recruit them?

That's true. I wasn't clear and my statement read 100% wrong. Thanks for catching that.

Blackshire was in the portal before Saban announced.

Post Saban Announcment

Julian Sayin (not official)
Jameer Grimsley
Kadyn Proctor
Caleb Downs
Trey Amos
Amari Niblack
Shawn Murphy
Antonio Kite
Dezz Ricks
Isaiah Bond

ETA: My point is that no one cared about the TWENTY in the portal pre-Saban announcement. However, we are melting over these TEN.
