By ALL accounts, Tua is a turnover machine. This is why Saban didn't want to play him last year. Sure, he performed okay in the title game, but he's clearly still prone to turnovers. We might be better off going with the poised and steady Jalen "Cool Hand Luke" Hurts who never turns it over than the wild old Tua Turnover Machine.

Who do you think wins out in the end?? It's gonna be a close call

I’d rather risk turnovers and generally be able to move the ball in the big games than have a completely inept offense in those big games.

The source of the turnover machine mantra was our very own Boz. We all appreciate his inside info and most of it was legit but the guy had the weirdest man crush on Jalen Hurts so he would have and did give several reasons why Tua wasn't ready until then. The fact is and was that Saban has always had the philosophy of his quarterback didn't need to win the game. Just don't lose it. The defense and running game will do the rest. He thought he could make it through the season with a quarterback that sucks at passing the ball and he was almost right. Almost.

I might mention that the OP was 100% tongue in cheek

Well, point remains the same for those who are still hardcore Team Jalen.

You all haven't been to the practices. Per a source very close to the program, Tua throws a pick about once every 5 pass attempts, leading many to coin the phrase, "Turnover Machine" in reference to Tua

Serious question: What do you hope to accomplish with this thread?

By all accounts, including Saban and McCarron, AJ McCarron was a turnover machine his first year on campus too. He became a Maxwell Award winning, first team all American, Heisman runner-up, 2x National Championship Game Winner, BCSNG MVP, and the best QB in school history (my opinion).

But isn't message boards banter kind of the antithesis of accomplishment? Or at least counter to productivity.

But it beats rotating tires.

As far as games go, Jalen had quite a few turnovers throughout his freshman year.
He did clear that up better last year

By ALL accounts, Jalen became a three and out machine against good defenses. This is why Saban got Tua ready to play in the playoffs. Sure, he performed okay against weak defenses, but he's clearly still prone to being a deer in the headlights if his first read isn't wide open. We might be better off going with the prolific passing threat Tua than same old Jalen Three and Out Machine.
