I won't, but if that's how companies and other people want to spend their money, then more power to them.

Recruits are gonna want to see that Bama players are making more in endorsements than USC players or Texas players or Ohio State players,

You know we can't just leave this up to chance, right? If there is all kinds of money in Austin and LA, then there needs to be just as much flowing into Tuscaloosa, because it will be an arms race.

Just really dumb

And no money for these kids to speak of. I would have preferred a stipend of $1500 a month.

This is hilarious because people like you were against players receiving any money; claiming they get their "free scholarship" so they should stop whining and be grateful.

Now you wish you could go back and change things.

This is what happens when redundant stubbornness impedes intelligent adaptation and change. You guys are Blockbuster and Circuit City; complaining bitterly.

So from my post you can tell I was opposed to stipends? And how exactly? Your radar has slipped a gear ... Idjot.

You sound way too invested in this for me to care. Good for the kids, but it's crazy to say there won't be any negatives to these new rules.

How many of you are going to run out and buy Milos tea cuz someone at Bama is being paid to post stuff on social media. I wont. Maybe I am at a certain age that no one celebrity convinces me to buy a product because of an endorsement. I sure havent gone out and bought a Benz cuz NS owns a dealership in Bham.

These days I care more about whether or not a company makes political statements.

Did not even think about this and will mean more in other sports at UA and programs across the country.

If anything, it might cause me to stay away from a product if it appeared they were supporting an arch rival. But, back in the 60s and 70s, Golden Flack probably sold a lot of chips in this state by being associated with Bear Bryant.

Golden Flake putting out chip tins with Alabama players on them is something they should definitely consider.

tech money. doesn't benefit the company to have some college kid "endorse" them unless the company is a social media platform and the kid says that's where he's going to post exclusively.

and LA

unless USC is winning like they did in the early 2000s, there is too much else to focus on in LA for businesses to throw real money at these kids (in my opinion).

Real comp is places like OSU, Clemson, LSU, etc. Places where the college football team is THE draw. And no place else is going to give you the exposure (i.e. opportunities to make bank) that Bama gives at the moment.

These people claim to hate communism, but want to make players slaves. That is what they would be in any other business.

You're consistent if anything

Well yeah because I experienced it. I also saw the backlash whenever the idea that an added stipend should be introduced and the moronic notion that we should be happy with our "free education".

Lastly, I'm not saying there won't be negatives. I just believe in a free market and Capitalism; so I know the market with drive things and the dust will settle.

We're just lucky Saban has always seen this as the future and supported it so he is ready for what it will take to continue to be elite.

Sorry..didn't realize that. We're coming from this at two different angles I see. I just want Alabama on top always and don't want anything to potentially upset that. Peace brother!

I have for a long time supported an NIL type of opportunity. The players have earned and the college gets rich off of the players. Although I would have rather seen it happen in a trust for the players with some stipulation of when they could have it like after graduation, once drafted, or 1 year removed from the roster. That way they build up a insurance/savings for them once they leave the college as many will never play again. Either way they will only get paid if they produce. At UA you have to earn it to see the field.
