Sources have told
@TideIllustrated
that Jeremy Pruitt was consulted in Alabama's hiring of Kevin Steele. Pruitt is viewed as Alabama's long-term replacement for Steele at DC.

Rivals

Also heard that Pruitt could be cleared to be hirable as DC as early as August 1st. I think the plan would still be for Steele to be the DC this season regardless.

If this is true shouldn’t we expect to hear about Pruitt being hired as an analyst soon?

Hard to believe that wouldn’t happen.

This isn't surprising. A lot of people were shitting on TDA but his alleged sources might have some knowledge this time around. Josh Pate was on last night saying that the Steele hire likely had conditions attached to it. He seemed to be alluding a lot to Jeremy Pruitt.

If this is the case then I love the hire even more!

Not if they are citing each other the way that the FBI cited one of the leftwing rags, which in turn cited the FBI that Trump was a Russian spy.

I don't think Josh Pate is citing TDA or Rivals.

the optimal word is "could". I would be shocked if he were since UT is probably going on some kind of probation.

been out of college coaching for 2 years and didn't get paid his Tennessee contract money. I could see him getting a multiple year show cause as head coach but be allowed to be a coordinator or position coach

The NCAA will likely be more harsh on Pruitt as a way to punish Alabama just because that's how the NCAA rolls.

The NCAA has no power.

They don't have any real power but obviously they still count or Jeremy Pruitt would be the Bama DC right now.

I don't know, but I believe it was referenced on this board several weeks ago, though. I think Tennessee's NCAA sanctions will come down well before August, maybe April? Does August line up with a time frame connected to the Tennessee investigation?
ETA: Aug. 1 would be about 2.5 years since Pruitt was fired from Tennessee (Jan. 18, 2021). Seems like an odd duration. Of course, they could always restrict his recruiting until 3 yrs, or whatever, have elapsed.

I don't think many people on this site understands what a show cause is.

A show cause will never stop a school from hiring a coach. It just means the school has to appear before the infractions committee every 6 months and show what they are doing to ensure the person with the show cause is doing their part.

There is s little more to it, as there could be restrictions on the coach that could affect recruiting or scholarships. Also, if the coach commits more violations, it would be very bad for the school.

But in no way will the NCAA clear him to be hirable. He is already hirable and the NCAA can't stop that.

The question is can Alabama live with the restrictions or on Pruitt and it sounds like Saban decided we cannot at this time. If he could, we would have hired him. This august bs is coming from Stephen Smith claiming UT is enforcing a non compete clause from Pruitt's contract. Which they are legally able to enforce (if they have a clause) regardless of the fact that they fired Pruitt.

NS is probably waiting until the NCAA hearing with UT later this spring. IF he has no show cause then I expect him to be an analyst or special assistant until something on the field opens up
