BoBs offense is all based around WRs reading open space
So that explains a lot! All our receivers read the same open space…lol

Yeeeeep! They aren't all option routes, but his entire scheme is based around WRs/QBs reading the DB the same way and making the same immediate route adjustment/decision.
Well, when they don't, what happens? WRs end up in the same place, the QB ends up having to buy time, everything breaks down. Sound familiar?

Yep. Two receivers reading the coverage differently are frequently going to end up in the same spot. It's a style that requires a ton of practice reps and roster continuity to really work, neither of which we had the luxury of this past season.

I don’t feel that upset about possibly hiring Rees, at least as of now. I feel like he’s a young guy who will have talent at his disposal that he’s never had. That could really help him develop as a play-caller. Maybe it’ll be a colossal failure, but I could see it being alright.

Rees also operated from the sidelines as the OC at ND. I know a lot of people didn't like BoB being up in the booth, so that should make some people happy!

Also, whoever we hire as OC, and whatever their exact philosophy is, the number 1 thing we need on offense is to get our offensive line back to the level it should be. A lot of woes on offense are minimized by have a good offensive line. We need to dominate up front.

Not to mention BoBs offense is all based around WRs reading open space and all this other very advanced stuff
That was my biggest issue and doesn't lend itself to getting younger guys on the field early to contribute. It's built for more experienced players and QBs that have had a lot of time together.

Our fans trying to run a guy out of town that isn’t hired yet that took Ian Book and some door dash drivers to the playoffs twice is insane lol

"eagle" has landed as in Brian Johnson? That would be my number 1 pick. But the next time I pick an OC will be my first so what do I know?

Nah, that poster was tracking the Bama plane that had left South Bend (presumably with Rees aboard to interview today).

Give me Brian Johnson. We need someone who can be innovative and know how to take advantage of our two athletic quarterbacks on roster. Ty and Jalen need someone who can allow their talent to be showcased. Look at the work Brian Johnson has done for Jalen in one season. He could do wonders with the guys we have at qb and our backs and receivers.

Ryan Fowler just had a guy Dave Bartoo hiring consultant ranked the possible names of OC and DC. Ryan Grubb would have been an excellent hire He said Pruitt would be an excellent hire. Grantham is a good DC but he is feast or famine. Not a top 25 coordinator. Bill O’Brien grade out at 47 out of all OC and he said Tommy Reese grades out at 49 so it would be at best lateral. He also said you have to account that ND has far superior talent to most of their opponents so that elevated his numbers a bit. He said he wouldn’t even discuss Derek Dooley if asked his answer would be no period.

He's probably going to be an NFL OC next season.

I’m not sure what will be worse the playcalling or people saying “Reese”.
