I just asked Google about Deboer’s offensive philosophy and this is what it said (apparently I don’t need to write essays anymore about something Google already knew). That does kind of bum me out though

I can't explain how much I think you are correct but I don't know how you can say that with the putrid o-line play over the last few seasons and there is no Derrick Henry at running back.

Sure, he could be great, but he's a reclassify and apparently dealing with a nagging injury. Let's pump the brakes a little.

I’m simply pointing out that an NFL/prime Saban years type RB will obviously help the run game on its own just bc of the elite talent. I didn’t mean this season.

Outside of an elite RB who gains yards after contact and consistently makes the 1st tackler miss, then you will see that 3.8ypc go up closer to 4.5 imo. Also a dual threat guy like KR can chip in 30 or so yards a game and more importantly force defenses to play less man coverage so the defense doesn’t have their back turned to him.

Still, at the big the day, it’s the downfield efficiency that will make or break the offense. All you need is to hit 5 out of 13 attempts to achieve this (on an average day). Defenses want to limit explosive plays more than anything else and each one of those 5 completions sets the offense up in scoring position. It doesn’t take going 10-14 for 400 yards to make it work. That’s what has been SO frustrating with Ty and Milroe…just give us the QB that CKD had at Fresno State and we are good to go.

The downfield pass concepts/route designs are beautiful and create mismatches (it’s not like they are just chunking it up in the air and hoping for the best).

The QB just giving the WRs a chance is all it really takes to accomplish what they need in order to be successful….they just can’t go 2-15 like Ty did, to the point they abandoned the most vital component of the offense.

Mack and KR both have nice touch on the ball and plenty of arm strength. I think you will see RW and 1 other WR go over the 1K mark (they kind of have to) this year.

I believe he hit a couple 20+ yard throws right off the bat and led them right down the field for their only points of the game if I’m not mistaken?

But primarily it’s bc they didn’t scheme up matchups to create 1-on-1’s down the field or going playaction and rolling right then throwing up the left sideline to a RB 30yds downfield after he finished his play-action fake (for example). Everything was designed for intermediate or screens pretty much.

When you completely give up on it and start looking for other ways to desperately try to move the football, then the scheme, matchups, motions, playaction and route designs aren’t going to be designed for downfield throws. Also, you aren’t repping those plays in practice either.

But I will say that he looked much better than Ty did with how the ball came out his hand with touch and also threw a very catchable ball compared to the rockets that Ty would throw.

That’s why I’m excited and anxious to see the offense with 1st half of Georgia (year 1) type play-designs that defenses can’t adjust and take away bc you are so limited/non-existent in another area(s) of the passing game.

I think you are 200% better than the usual jackals around here who go off on emotion and ignorance.

The fact is, Saban had missed on a good number of players, especially offensive linemen and running backs late in his career, and the cabinet was empty when it came to QB after having had 3 straight studs. We also struggled to regain footing on defense after the big loss to the draft in 2020. Always had some missing pieces.

DeBoer has been an absolute winner everywhere he has been. He took his second Bama team to the SEC championship game and to the playoffs. And while I am no where close to the Xs and Os guy you are, even I could tell that we were hampered at quarterback, and we really needed more size on defensive line to be elite against the run and the pass.
