I may be wrong but I thought you could transfer once and play right away. If you transfer again, you have to sit. The exception is if you are a graduate transfer. Again I could be wrong on the rules.
That’s what makes Nimari a little baffling. Why’s he going to transfer and sit a year? Hell he’s barely played the last couple years. Unless he was just that unhappy with his minutes/situation.

But Bama is looking for experienced guys to help them next year.

-I do expected UA to be successful in getting the top guy/ guys they want in the portal. It probably won't be the popular names some of you like but they have a system in place and they follow that blueprint when they evaluate players.
I assume this means they won't be getting the popular names like Ware and Love. If it means the transfers we're targeting weren't the best (on a mid-major team) or one of the best (on a high-major team) players on their own team, this philosophy doesn't matchup to past years. Gurley and Welch were two of the most experienced guys on the roster and often lost their minutes in the rotation in favor of younger players. They were both considered their team's best (or one of their best) players before transferring.

Do want

He may be set to graduate in May. Some athletes are able to complete their degrees in 3 years since they're almost always on campus over the summer. The NCAA may also be counting his transfer from Texas Tech to Alabama as a sit out year since he didn't play any minutes in the 21-22 season.

What exactly does this mean though? Who does the "popular names some of you like" reference? I'm guessing Denver Jones is one of them? I'm not on BOL so I don't know what the mood is over there.
I'm guessing he was referencing Caleb Love. Well known name and big scorer. I want nothing to do with him. But I could see some BOL posters wanting him. Me? Hell no.

I think he meant that even if it's players we have from smaller schools that we get, like Denver Jones ect, that doesnt mean they're not good players. A ton of players from smaller schools had great seasons at bigger schools they transferred to this season.
Most FOGs probably think a transfer from FIU would suck so I understand the need to clarify.

Hate to see Burnett go, but thus far his play makes me wonder how he was listed as a combo guard in high-school. No way he could play PG for a quality high-major team.

Burnett showed flashes but from a production standpoint his per 40 minute stats weren't much better here than they were at Texas Tech.
I really hope we keep Griffen, I could see him exploding next year similar to how Jaylen Forbes did in his Sophomore year.

There are plenty of portal guys who you can pretty easily talk yourself into wanting even though they aren't great overall fits. Caleb Love is not one of those players. If anyone can come up with a compelling argument for why a ball stopping chucker would be a good addition to the roster I'd love to hear it.

I really liked Burnett but I'm way more interested in adding a guy that can create his own shot compared to the catch and shoot game that Burnett brings and yeah, definitely not a combo guard at this level.

Someone like Denver Jones would be a huge upgrade over Burnett.

AU lost Westry and Traore to the portal today.

Alabama's staff really should talk with Caleb Love and at least get a read on his character. Skills and athletic ability definitely read as the type of point guard Oats wants around here.

Now this is interesting. Terrance Ford mentioned to us yesterday he had a conversation with Burnett about Bryan Hodgson while Ford was deciding whether to come back or not.
Pure speculation, but certainly something to note. I’d imagine Arkansas State would be a contender.

Burnett just looks a little thick for a guard. Maybe if he could slim down a little he could get a little more quickness. Griffen looks like he needs to calm down when he gets on the court. He might be able to develop into a good player if he can get under control and calm down a little.
