The IARP will announce its ruling on Memphis this morning, per release. This case stems from NCAA allegations that Penny Hardaway paid James Wiseman’s family $11,500 to move to Memphis when Hardaway was the coach at East HS. The school had its final IARP hearing in May.

Thats what I said last year. His offense doesnt work very well with two (or more) players on the court that cannot shoot a three. They dont guard those players and just drop back and clog up the lane. Usually there were two on the court that could shoot, and those two were guarded, and the opponents just dared the others to shoot the 3, and took away the dribble drive.

I really like Cosby and Walters as fits in our system over time.

I agree. Shack was probably the second best defensive player. The 5 star freshman that couldnt guard anyone stood over in the corner while Shack was busting is A trying to get through screens chasing their point guard.

Bediako was our second best defensive player. After him and Gary, there was a large gap.

And of course, almost nothing was done to Memphis or Penny.
The school got 3 years probation, $5,000 fine and a loss of .25% of their budget. Yes, that's .25%.
And Penny was cleared of any wrongdoing.

JQ and Miles?
Shack is no doubt the one Oats meant that were mainly trying to improve their individual draft stock more than improve the team. Likely JD too, who never planned to stay more than a year. Shack wanted to improve his point guard skills, but he did not. It is interesting to see how many guard and wing and even power forward players like Clowney and Miller can go to the basket and score without doing Shack style whirleygigs - and missing. Shack did shoot 35% from 3 though. JQ actually did have the ability to beat the defense to the rim. If we had had Burnett and Primo last year, as planned, we would have been much better - though Shack would have likely transferred. I think Ellis defered too much to Shack and JD.

It will never cease to amaze me how there are people incarcerated all over this country right now who were convicted entirely on circumstantial evidence, but the NCAA is literally incapable of addressing cheating in college sports without getting a player to admit he was paid to go to school somewhere.

JQ and Miles? Them and JD were the 3 who'd pull the matador act the most.
100%. Miles seems to be given a pass by the fan base because he'd be a good to great defender at times, but his effort was incredibly inconsistent on that end. Oats even mentioned yesterday that they're still trying to get him to show consistent effort every day. In fact, I'd say he's the #1 guy that quote about being subbed out for bad defense is targeting considering he's more than capable of playing great defense every time he's on the floor.

I kinda wish Miles had a little more Tony Mitchell energy. I know that sounds crazy, but we have the depth to sit him on the bench on "those" nights now. Unfortunately I don't see him having a lot of the other kind of Tony Mitchell nights where he hits a couple of 3s or gets a big transition dunk in the first couple of minutes and is a total menace the whole game because he decides to give a damn. He's got talent, but I don't think it's take over the game talent. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

I guess I don't get too upset with Miles because I think he does care. He's a goofball and maybe his personality causes him to lapse sometimes. But I don't think it's because he's lazy or doesn't WANT to do the right thing. That said, that doesn't mean I want him to play above another player that is contributing more.

Hope we have some higher ranked recruits coming.
109-114- and unranked per the BOL rankings is not overly reassuring.

I think it's more of an energy-level and focus thing. Based on Oats's comments about Miles being a leader, I doubt it's a laziness thing. He just needs to learn how to lock in with some consistency.

Yeah, that's how I see it. So, I wouldn't say I give him a pass, I just don't dislike him like I would if he were lazy or had an attitude problem.
I'm really excited to see how this team progesses. I think they have all the pieces to be very good.

I've been on the road all day, but just did a quick search and couldn't find anything. What are you hearing?
