English isn't his first language and there are a couple of other instances of odd phrasing in there. Thanking Archie Miller, Kenny Johnson and his staff instead of their staff. Continuing his career to Rhode Island instead of at Rhode Island. He's probably extremely proficient without being 100% fluent.

That conference schedule sets up pretty well for us. No return trip to Rupp this year… seems like we’ve doubled up UK H/A a lot under the “divisionless” format. Also get UF at home. Not sure what they look like this season, but I never looked forward to playing in Gainesville.

Two games with Arkansas and AU, but we also get two with LSU, State, and Vandy; all of which should be very winnable.

Outside of UT, the road schedule is pretty tame as well. USC, Missouri, and ATM aren’t daunting atmospheres, especially given some of the other road/neutral games we’ve played since Oats arrived.

I like it a lot. If we’re playing well coming into the conference schedule, we should have a great chance to make some noise. Ready for the rest of the OOC schedule and some summer ball.

Starting to seem like he's going to really fly up the rankings after summer ball ends.

Looks like a lunch pail kinda guy. Some have even speculated he’s another coach on the floor.

Real glue guy. Does the little things. People might not realize due to his attributes but he’s sneakily athletic.

For me, he's Riley Norris 2.0 until proven otherwise.

Q&A: AD Greg Byrne on chances for alcohol sales at 2022 Alabama football games, Nick Saban contract update

Q: What’s the latest on the new basketball/gymnastics arena?

Byrne: We’re continuing to meet with the architects. Obviously when we announced our plans, that was just an early step in the process. We’re still continuing to work through the process with our trustees through campus, through Dr. Bell. We still feel it’s very important for our men’s and women’s basketball programs as well as gymnastics program moving forward

We are continuing through that process. Since we announced it, inflation has skyrocketed. We are still seeing issues with labor shortages and also supply chain issues in the marketplace. So what we’re trying to understand is get our arms around what that all means right now. It’s really important that we understand that so we can have a fiscal model that can work for the long haul. But it is still a priority and I know coach (Nate) Oats, coach (Kristy) Curry – and we have new leadership in gymnastics, too, with Ashley (Johnston) – that they very much want to see this become a reality for our department.

Q: Has an architect been hired?

Byrne: There are processes we have to go through, the board of trustees from a construction standpoint. We have been working with an architectural firm to continue to move the process forward.

Q: Is it still 18 months of construction once you hire an architect?

Byrne: You have a year of design. You have different levels of design. That’s a lot of steps in the process. It’s a year design plus an 18-month construction once you get to that point in the process to be able to move the project forward.

Q: Have you determined what it will look like for season-ticket holders to have season tickets at the new arena?

Byrne: We have some very early modeling from a financial standpoint, but nowhere near where we’re ready to say anything publicly.

In other news, Byrne announced next month's groundbreaking ceremony for the new $100 million football team rock climbing/go kart/waterpark facility.

Is it bad that I legitimately don't know if this is a serious post or sarcasm?

We're never getting a new basketball arena. Might as well accept it. NIL + inflation killed it in the cradle.

It's a process within a process that requires processors to process with thorough processing in order to get through the process

We're closer to a name change at this point. I vote for Coleman Mausoleum.

We probably won’t break ground until Saban retires. He’s gonna get every single extra penny we have. Not saying he doesn’t deserve it but it’d be nice to have money for other things too. Put it this way, if something football related needed to be renovated this badly or a new stadium built, they would’ve done it 10 years ago

I love football and it’s always been my first love but I don’t even keep up with football recruiting like I do basketball now. Building a program is so much more entertaining to me and I’d like to see basketball get at least a quarter of the support as Bryant Denny.

I’m afraid the powers at the top will squander the momentum the program has gained the last couple of years. We have a lot of good pieces in place and need that final piece.

Build it and they will come

Byrne was pretty much telling everyone that without actually coming out and saying it.
