I'm starting to think it's going to be Radford, Williams, or a reclassification out of left field.

I think Shackelford coming back is a possibility as well. Especially with Juzang coming back. I would have assumed they were the leader, and Juzang coming back takes away a lot of what would have been Shackelford's shots.

Anything is possible, but I'd place the odds of it happening pretty low. Mostly because nothing about our roster situation has changed, and our roster situation is apparently the reason he decided to enter the portal in the first place. The only way I see Juzang's decision prompting Shack to come back is if it was UCLA or nothing in his mind, which would be kind of odd for someone transferring.

Question is who is making Shack's decision, him or his father? Rumor had it father was mad at Oats for bad NBA evaluation, but which team is going to give Shack more freedom, more shots, than he got here? I'm sure there are options out West for him, but do those teams want to promise the father that Shack will be first round next year? The grass is not always greener. Wish he would come back.

I definitely wouldn't bet on it, but with how late Shackelford's decision to enter the portal came, I don't think he was desperate to get out of here or anything. It could be that he just wanted to keep his options open.

Anyone who makes that promise better have some kind of advanced technology that allows them to prompt a 21 year old to grow 3 inches taller.

A talking head on wjox yesterday said several of the PAC 12 schools are skeptical of him. They are afraid he could upset team chemistry. He was the leading scorer, shot taker on a good team, and they aren't sure what he can get that he wasnt already getting. If he wants to be the point guard, a team would have to be hurting at that position to play him there.

That was another thing I was thinking but didn't really want to speculate like that about a kid who really hasn't shown himself to be selfish or any sort of locker room cancer as far as I know. But since they did it for me, yeah on some level if you're Oats - or any other coach for that matter - you have to consider telling him no if the issue is how he was being used in the offense last season. Because there just isn't anything more you can do for him to enhance his draft stock than he's already gotten. He's a 6'3" 2 guard with limited length and athleticism. That's just not an NBA player no matter how much he wants to be. I'm sure that's a bitter pill to swallow, but his pro career is almost certainly going to be overseas.

If somebody takes that kid as a point guard, there will be a bunch of unhappy people around that program...soon.

This is absolutely right.

With his size and skill set, ‘22 Anthony Black is a true do it all type of player. He’s 6’7 with guard skills. Black runs the point well, highly skilled passer, tough off the dribble attacking & defends multiple positions well.

Big start by Anthony Black in a win to start the weekend in front of a large contingent of high major coaches. The 6’7 PG is a big time stat stuffer that does it all for his his team. Really stood out with his passing ability.

I liked Cedric Russel as a replacement. Never heard Bama mentioned with him though.

I can see him going to Oregon or Arizona.

Remember Jeff Tedford wanted Kennan Allen so bad, he recruited his brother.

Nate knows the deal so I doubt he would bring back a blinking light onto his roster.

C'mon, man. I think it's a bad decision, but if you think there's somewhere you can go that will give you a better chance of living out your dream as an NBA player, then go for it. It's not like he sacrificed team success for his own when he was on the court. He could have a terrible game, but if we pulled one out despite his play he was smiling just the same.

If we're going to call Shackelford out for pursuing other opportunities, then we should keep that same energy with Gurley, Quinerly, and especially Burnett. It may not be the wisest decision, but I can respect a kid trying to do anything he can to live out his dream.
