Los Angeles Sparks lose rookie Jasmine Walker for season with torn ACL
Los Angeles Sparks rookie forward Jasmine Walker will miss the remainder of the 2021 season with a torn ACL in her right knee, the team announced Wednesday.
Walker left last Friday's game against the Las Vegas Aces in the first quarter with a noncontact knee injury and did not return. An MRI in Los Angeles later revealed the ACL tear.
According to the Sparks, Walker will immediately undergo rehab in preparation for surgery in the coming weeks.
Walker, the seventh overall selection in last month's WNBA draft, appeared in two games for the Sparks.
In her final season at Alabama, the 6-foot-3 forward averaged 19.1 points and 9.4 rebounds while shooting 39.8% from the field.

So take it for what it is worth.......someone who knows things and only talks when he's 100% sure of things (mostly having to do with board of trustee decisions) says that the entire thinking around Coleman has changed.
New plan is
- leave Coleman as is along with the practice facilities, offices and it will be used by gymnastics, practice, events, etc
- build a new arena elsewhere on campus - 2 locations in mind (did not say what those are)
- should hear more in the next month or two
Who knows how definitive this is, but it wouldn't have been said unless it was truly being discussed.

It would definitely be nice to play games in Coleman as opposed to Bham or elsewhere while the new place is being built. Thanks for the info!

sign me tf up for that!!!!!

That is definitely the best option if they have the money for it. Playing an entire year of home games in Birmingham while we're actually competitive would be rough. The only place they could do it on campus is on the old Bryce property though isn't it? Everything else is pretty built out unless they plan on tearing down a few buildings or eliminating parking.

tear down Tutwiller and stick it there. That place probably needs to go anyway. Is there room there?

Tut is coming down. New one ready in fall of 22

My hunch is no. Between the footprint of the new one and that massive parking deck they built next to it there'd be no room.

That would make sense I guess. Would explain why we keep hearing the same thing from Byrne over and over. They’re discussing a new arena but can’t say anything about it so they just say the same thing over and over

Bro... if we get a new arena, it’s going to change the dynamic of the program. Bama is already a brand in football. If you add basketball to that mix we become the IMG academy of college athletics

I see this rumor is also on the TideFans message board. They’re saying the meeting is next week and we should know something after that.

Isn't being on tidefans a bannable offense?

I’ve never had an account there but someone I know does

Take what you read there with a grain of salt. Users on Tardfans.com usually come here for their info.

Hopefully it won't be a 9000 seater. They should model it after some great NBA arenas. Like the one in Nashville too.

Bryce hospital land has to be one of them. An old campus master plan had a future site for athletic facilities listed there.

God No. I want it small and intimate like the Barns gym. Give me between 9,000 and 10,000
