Noah Williamson is suppose to look lost and slow at this point lol!
Can we allow guys to get acclimated to our playing style and conditioning? I can assure you...it's not going to happen overnight for some.
I hear that talk about him being slow...I think that's in terms of reacting. I'm not even going to fall in that he's practice squad bad because that's CAP!

quote:Guy who was watching played college ball. It wasn’t a “hey he showed flashes but clearly isn’t in shape or familiar with the system” type of criticism. Basically whoever he was guarding went right at him and scored easily every time, and the body language of everyone else on the court when he had the ball or was guarding someone reflected some frustration.

That's it?
He's not a good defender yet? WOW!
Noah Williamson can develop defensively. Don't panic fans.
Have you ever heard of teaching players to take angles to defend?
Update me on his progress in a few months!

Ive played a lot of basketball, what hes describing means Williamson will never step on the floor in a moment we need him to contribute. He is a massive liability. It's beyond "hes not a good defender". You can be a bad defender and still play meaningfully minutes. But a guy as bad as Williamson, especially being at the 5, collapses the entire defense.
Maybe his offensive skills means he can still be a net positive, but it doesn't seem like it.

That’s CAP!
Noah WILLIAMSON is on the BASKETBALL TEAM and practicing shooting and running and he’s TALL! He’s 7 feet and that’s 84 inches! Plus he has long arms and legs. You know what you can do with long ARMS and LEGS?!?!? Block shots. Dunk. Reach high things!
You think Noah Williamson can’t reach high things?!?! That’s CAP!!! It’s a full on top hat it’s so CAP!
When Noah Williamson is done practicing and PLAYING the GAME of BASKETBALL at university of ALABAMA!!!! He will be known as the BEST player besides LATRELL WRIGHTSELL JR AND MOHAMMED DIOUBATE!
In summary: CAP CAP CAP

Sherrill has lost weight and is gonna be really fkn good this year. We just need Noah for 5-10 mins a night and TBB can play 5-10 mins at the 5 too.
But it wouldn’t bother me if we add a purely defensive/rebounding 5.
FWIW tho report was Noah was banging some 3s out there

The day we signed Williamson I did what im sure a lot of people in here did, immediately pulled up his stat line. The head scratcher was the blocked shots per game. He averaged 30 MPG and 1.1 blocks per game. This was in the patriot league where at 7 Feet tall, 90 percent of opposing centers were vastly inferior in height and length. Dribble penetration was coming from much less athletic and shorter players. From an outside perspective it would seem like he could basically have just raised his arms and averaged 2 blocks per game against that competition. It definitely seemed like a red flag
The oddity was, he was actually a pretty rock solid defensive rebounder meaning he did have some instinct for where the ball was coming off and a knack for going after it. On the flip side, his offensive rebounding was underwhelming considering the competition and his overall size advantage.

Preston Murphy Jr. is listed on the roster for the upcoming season. This is a little bit different than the Avery Jr daddy ball
