Even though the first thing he said after the final four loss was "I know what I'm worth?"

I know they asked him about coming back...and they said something like are you ready to step up and be a leader for next seasons team and he was like...Yea, but I'm already a leader or something.

frick. I mean good for Bucky. I just hate that's he's in conference. Interesting choice. At least they won't be painful to watch anymore.

A few long winded thoughts:
1) happy for the new guys, but we need at least 2 more creators to make this roster work for big time basketball. And that assumes we keep Reid. Need 2 on the floor at all times.
2) losing Mo sucks bad…people don’t seem to recognize his 3 point shooting was much improved and he probably was our most consistent shooter down the stretch…he went 2/2 in both of the 1st games and pretty sure 3 of the 4 shots were nothing but net. He also was a creator (at least for himself), and was an incredible defender and rebounder. Big time loss, but understandable.
3) we’ve got to have a big point guard that can create and defend…if Holloway plays more than 10-15 minutes against the best teams in the country, we’re screwed. He can play 25-30 minutes against all but the best 5 teams in the country and we’re probably fine, but not against the Duke’s, FL’s, and Houston’s of the world. We will get obliterated with him on the court in those types of games.
4) this will get downvoted as all my “realism posts” do (SolGrundy insult in 3…2…1…), but it’s really, really, really hard to make 3 straight elite eights. Sometimes the roster doesn’t click, or you miss on a guy that you really needed, injuries happen, or just really bad matchups in the NCAAT. I will be excited about next year and trust Oats on staff, roster, etc., but no coach is perfect. Oats will almost certainly have a “down year” at some point, but hopefully that’s a long way off. That said, we need to have realistic basketball expectations…anything where we cut down the nets or get to a sweet 16 is a successful season. There are at least 16 teams spending at or above our level, and probably close to double that number. It’s very unlikely we go 5+ years without a down year, and next year will be year 4 in a row if we are “successful.” This has been an incredible run, and I hope we have many more years before Oats decides to try the NBA (plus those guys are divas…at least college divas still have to listen to you because you can bench them…imagine trying to bench your star NBA player to send a message when you were just a high school basketball coach a decade ago).

The amount of people who think Mo D was the next Herb is mind blowing. Herb was the best defender in program history, SEC player of the year, essentially our starting PG as a senior. Mo was a solid bench player. I’m a fan and understand why fans loved him but let’s relax. It’s not that big of a loss.

not that it even matters at this point, but pretty sure im the only one whos said he has that kind of potential. there were multiple posts by me and others explaining how analytically off the charts he was, and as i already said my personal favorite one being mo's bcp rating being far higher than herbs the year he won sec poy, despite limited minutes. so yes, atleast in regards to what mo did this past season it is undeniably a very bad loss.
just move on and keep having faith in oats to do his thing. bowen seems alright, and if reid and jarin do stay then hopefully they can improve enough next season to make up for it.

Mo was a solid role player. If he was as good as a lot of people on this board think CNO wouldn’t have lost him. Don’t act like we lost the next Herb Jones when we really lost the next Juwan Gary.

That’s basically an insult calling him Juwan Gary. Mo D brought toughness and physicality to so many games that we would’ve lost if he didn’t play. We wouldn’t have made the final four without him stepping up against Grand Canyon. I understand it’s a business move but let’s not diminish this kids contribution to our program the last two seasons. We should wish him the best and we should continue to proceed with the players that want to be here.

He's not the next Herb Jones. He has the potential to be a left handed Draymond Green.
People claimed Herb Jones wasn't good and that he wouldn't get drafted either.
We see how that went and there are a lot of people on here who said those things.

Come on, Jq was 2nd leading scorer on the team that year behind Shack, was Sec tournament MVP that year as well. Herb at times was the offense initiator and brought the ball up and at times we ran isolation plays for him as well. Herb is probably my favorite all time player from Alabama, but he was not the starting point guard on that team

We let JQ walk after 3+ times trying to increase NIL, and we would have been forced to let Herb walk going into his junior year after several times of “renegotiation” where the price tag was hitting elite transfer level costs as well.
I’m not saying MoD is Brandon Miller or even as good as Herb, but I think many people don’t understand how important he was to winning. The poster who said he won the GCU game for us is 100% correct. Instead of our only final four in the entire history of program, we would have had an embarrassing RD of 32 loss to a 12 seeded upstart mid major. There’s no way to overstate how big that was for our program, because that would have had Oats underperforming his seed in every single year in the NCAAT up to that point (‘21: 2 seed lost to 11 seed, ‘22: 6 seed lost to 11 seed, ‘23: 1 seed lost to 5 seed, ‘24: would have been 4 seed losing to 12 seed). That one 6 minute stretch of him taking over the game changed the entire narrative of our coach’s performance in the NCAAT (along with all the guys who stepped up in the UNC and Clemson games), and he was big in this year’s tournament run where we played to seed as well.

NEWS: UAB transfer Yaxel Lendeborg, the best big man in the portal, has committed to Dusty May and Michigan, he told ESPN.
Lendeborg will go through the NBA draft process, with the intention of finding a guaranteed contract.

This point is one I hold strongly. We need it as much on offense as defense too. I think we could really use a combo guard that is 6'4'' and can finish through contact. A dude that is wearing knee and elbow pads like D-Wade out there.

Glad he won’t be in the SEC if he stays in college.

Maybe all the money Dave Portnoy is losing in the market will keep him from buying many more players from Michigan

I think Larry Ellison's 30something gold digger wife who graduated from UM is the bigger threat on that front.
