I've said it once before, but the worse the football team is, the better chances our basketball team will have to go the distance.

It's written in the stars, boys.

He's basically the white version of Anthony Grant in terms of ethics, so it's definitely not any kind of cheating or personal scandal. Gotta either be a health thing or he made the decision to get out a while back but waited until now so the roster wouldn't disintegrate and they'd have to give one of his assistants a shot. It wouldn't surprise me if it's the latter. He's another one of those coaches who isn't really made for the NIL/portal world.

Seems odd he would wait this long.

There are likely other reasons, but the changing landscape of college basketball over the last couple years cannot be underestimated in his decision.

My guess is attitudes at practice. He tried to give it a go and realized these kids don’t want to listen or work hard. So he took his ball and his $$$ and went to where he might be able to still have an impact in this short life we all live (i.e. time with family).

Guarantees his top assistant will get a chance to land the job full time and makes it where it’s too late for the kids to transfer out. It protects the school and his assistants while screwing over the kids who signed to play for him.

You are right. But most kids probably just signed for the money.

Does anybody else think it’s kinda weird Pitino is going back to all these UK events, and asking donors to donate to UK, all while being a Head Coach at another Power conference school?

Probably precautionary on Nelson. He's been off and on since the end of the season from a recovery standpoint. Think Wrightsell will be fine as well.

Regardless, kind of glad I didn't end up paying $200 a seat to watch half the squad scrimmage Wake Forest.

So, did Philon and Aden both go off in that last scrimmage? Heard some crazy scoring numbers for those two but not sure if they are accurate numbers..

At a recent closed scrimmage apparently both scored in the high 20s

At the open one that I was actually at, Aden was great and Philon was solid

Wake Forest is a really good team and this will be a great test for us but I think it'll also be a blessing in disguise with some of our (Bama) starters being out.

Sherrell was another one who I thought Coach Oats said would be out today. Is he playing tonight?
