He would be in his mid fifties now.
Prior to meeting him, I had never heard of Depaw. When he first told me, i thought he meant DePaul.
On another note, I also served with a guy that was a walk-on at Illinois when they had Kendall gill and Marcus liberty. He rarely ever played in college but the dude had great handles and was dead on from the three point line.

That Illinois lineup along with Kendall Gill and Marcus Liberty had Nick Anderson Kenny Battle and Lowell Hamilton. One of the most athletic 5 I can remember in college basketball, the "Flying Illini" lost by 2 to Michigan that year in the final 4.

I was at the game where Nick Anderson had one of the most legendary chokes in NBA finals history. Missed 6 free throws in the last minute of game 1 of the 95 Finals vs Houston. No way were they gonna beat Houston. But after that choke, they just beat the hell out of them and swept the series.

Booked my vegas trip for the opening game. Going to the F1 race Thursday-Saturday and Bama-Houston (hopefully) on Tuesday.

A few weeks ago someone posted asking if our athletics teams were switching to Jordan. I gave my reason for opposition, which is relevant here:
“When I was 9 years old Michael Jordan came to play for the Barons. His dad just died and my uncle told me he had the Barons address and I should write him a letter. Michael Jordan didn’t write me back and 9 year old me was like “frick Michael Jordan”. Anyway I’d rather us stick w Nike.”
