Watched a little practice today.. to me I thought labaron really stood out.. true PG but can also shoot. Also impressed with Sherrill .. particularly in that he is much thicker than thought would be…this team going to be something else

From Mac. I gotta say everything I’ve read so far about Practice sounds like Philon is gonna beat out Holloway for Backup PG

Joe Lunardi has his doubts about Alabama being so good this year. Has us as a two seed in his recent bracketology. Time to prove people wrong.

It’s June 12th. They’ve got a couple more practices to figure out who will backup Sears

Gonna be the only game in driving distance for me. Figure it’s worth a few weekdays in a college town.

Bruce Pearl had to beg for Auburn to get the Duke game. He even called Scheyer to help out.

That’s kinda pathetic

Fwiw, it's my understanding they've wanted this game for the past few years because they are both high major coaches of Jewish background.

That might be True. But my understanding was Bruce was very very outspoken about getting this game in the challenge and even reached out to Scheyer asking him to help get this game scheduled for the challenge

I mean, good for him? Wanting to play the best game seems like part of your job at head coach. Who wouldn't want a showcase game at Cameron Indoor?

I came away with the same thought. Not to mention Philon was an absolute menace defensively when I saw them. That’s who you want guarding someone like RJ Davis.

Yes, that's what I said. Both head coaches campaigned for this game, because they are both Jewish.

I also don't understand how this is demeaning to Bruce. He's somehow less of a coach because he was begging to play the best team in the ACC? Last year they had a soft arse schedule and it fricked them in the tourney. He's scheduled much harder this year. Which is good for CBB. We should appreciate this.

Better than January or February, and probably March.

Because begging for a road game and asking the opposing coach to assist you in the endeavor instead of just scheduling a home and home makes it look like Bruce got played by Scheyer. That's just my take on it though.

Because if you wanna play them just schedule a H&H.

And plus Auburn fans arguing with Arkansas fans they are a bigger brand because they got this game when they only got it because their coach begged for it.

Duke doesn't play home and homes. They play individual one off games and rarely schedule road games outside of the conference challenges. Scheyer said he would start doing it, but that's only come about in 1 a season (Arizona last year, next year) and they made it clear it would only be with other blue bloods.

The move is a significant one for Duke, given that Krzyzewski, who retired in April after 47 years coaching, did not schedule nonconference on-campus/home-and-homes for the final 13 years of his career. While the Blue Devils did play the occasional noncon game on the road over the past decade-plus, those almost exclusively tied to the made-for-TV ACC/Big Ten Challenge (and not scheduled by Duke). Duke's last out-of-league road game against a power-conference team in an on-campus venue that wasn't tied to the ACC/Big Ten Challenge came against Michigan in December of 2008, an 81-73 Blue Devils loss.

Coach K being far and away the most cowardly scheduler in the history of the sport is no secret and something the media never gave him nearly enough shite over, but what does that have to do with it? Unless it's an official university policy at Duke, which is really tough to believe, the only reason that a home and home couldn't happen is because Scheyer doesn't really want it to. They also could have just played a "home and home" in Birmingham and Charlotte or something like what we did with Gonzaga. I'd be fricking pissed at Oats for begging to get a one off true road game at the most notorious 8 v 5 venue in the sport.
