Out of touch with reality more like it.

Rick Pitino Is more logical, but let’s hope logic keeps escaping them

Sorry but LSUs next hire will be Shula. A sacrificial lamb to at least keep them respectable through tough times.

I think they are gonna get the fricking hammer. Like maybe the most severe sanctions we have ever seen in College Basketball

I'm guessing guy just crawling out of NCAA jail isn't the likely replacement.

They're about to get a multi-year postseason ban and be down to like 7 or 8 scholarships. They're gonna be lucky to hire Johnny Jones back.

I’m not even kidding and I doubt he would take the Job but I think Avery would be a good hire for them.

Not sure it will match Kentucky in the late 80s or a few others (A&M late 80s ironically under Kermit Davis is one)

quote:

The ruling bars Kentucky from post-season competition in 1990 and 1991 and from playing in televised games next season. In addition, Kentucky will be limited to three basketball scholarships in each of the next two years.

quote:

Texas A&M`s men`s basketball program was placed on two years` probation Monday by the NCAA Committee on Infractions for major violations under former coach Kermit Davis Jr. Texas A&M, which was put on probation in 1988 for rules violations, escaped the NCAA`s so-called ''death penalty.'' The Aggies will not be eligible for this season`s NCAA tournament and will be limited to two scholarships for the 1992-93 season and can have only eight instead of the usual 15 expense-paid official visits for the 1992 calendar year.

And of course, Kentucky got the Death Penalty in 1952 (before that phrase existed) and had their entire season cancelled. And Baylor's issues under Dave Bliss was everything but the death penalty.

Well multiple programs have gotten the death penalty in the past, so I don't think it'll be quite that bad. I'm not sure they're actually eligible anyway since they weren't already on probation.

I agree that they're going to get fricking nuked though. Wade and Armstrong were still offering kids 6 figure signing bonuses after the phone recordings were published and he had been suspended by the school. I don't even know how you craft a defense to allowing that to happen if you're LSU.

Boy I bet Pettway is loving seeing Bill Armstrong's career get nuked

Antoine Pettway and an LSU assistant exchanged unpleasantries and before long everyone was in the center circle arguing about their best gumbo recipes (I am sure all those 4-letter words starting with “f” were “fish”)

Aren’t they the 2 that started the pregame Activities in last years SEC Championship game?

Edit: Yes

My unbiased prediction for their sanctions are 6 scholarships lost over 3 years, a postseason ban for a couple of years, 8 years probation, a massive fine, and obviously some pretty severe recruiting restrictions. Wade will get slapped with like a 10-15 year show cause that will effectively relegate him to coaching at some shady diploma mill "prep academy" for the rest of his career.

Found out Cher the weekend that a friend’s cousin is married to Will Wade. Not sure how close they are.

Just plain laziness. A struggling program is foolish to not give Jeff Boals a look.

Honestly I think they really just want to be what we were under Grant and Avery or what Ole Miss was with Kennedy. Almost never embarrassing, relatively clean, and typically still playing for something in February even if you rarely end up on the right side of the bubble. They had that in Fox and probably regret firing him at this point. Like I said on tRant just a minute ago, to you I think, I really don't see Mike White as a program builder. He did an OK job at LaTech but never made the tournament there and they weren't as bad as UGA when he took over. But Crean revived Indiana from the dead and was a complete disaster in Athens, so who knows.

That's the funny thing - stable NIT team is what they had before Crean, and nothing in Crean's history said he'd be the guy to show up and crater a program

White isn't a great recruiter or a great technician coach, and there is absolutely a risk he can't elevate the program to anything more than 14-18 (5-13) or so.

If you are gonna take that risk at least go after a guy with a system or an ace recruiter or something. Just very weird.

He was kind of a disaster his last couple of years at Indiana. He rode that win over #1 Kentucky on Watford’s 3 at the buzzer for a couple of years.

I’d like to remind everyone that we also lost to Georgia. We can lose to literally any of the 67 other teams in the NCAAT.

I mean, honestly, who else were they going to get? For Georgia, it is a good hire because you're getting someone that has consistently won at the SEC level. Of course, a program like Florida wants better results but White will elevate Georgia to a level where the next coach will be in a much better position.

He has definitely been underwhelming but after being a bottom dweller for so long, I think you have to go with a safer route instead of taking a swing at a young assistant coach.

I absolutely hate having to potentially play Texas Tech in the 2nd round. I know they're questionable on offense but I can't imagine how many turnovers we would have playing them.

It would be a pretty crazy story if we end up playing Duke. I think I mentioned this a few weeks ago but imagine Oats handing Coach K his final loss.
