There are 11 1st round games currently with a spread under 3 points. There were ten combined in each of the last two tourneys. The most is 13 (2011 and 1991). Buckle up!

ETA: sorry for the triggering phrase "Buckle up!".

I can't imagine Ala being favored by over 3 points to Rutgers or ND so make it 12.

Frank Martin out at Carolina. State should try to get him

For brackets with bonus points for picking an upset based on seeds, the analytics would say choose Rutgers/ND all day long.

Forget bonus points. It would be tough for me to pick against either with a cocked pistol pointed at my head

They had a great shot at landing 2023 top ten recruit GG Jackson too.

We are in the elite tier of shot selection, but we are far and away the worst at making them within that tier. Nothing we don't already know, but here it is in graph form per ShotQuality.

Please post this in the Nate Oats thread. Too many football fans in there that can’t comprehend his offense isn’t the fricking problem

I mean it would have just been like Anthony Edwards at UGA or Trae Young Jr. at LSU. He'd have just been a great player on an otherwise bad team that would have missed the tournament. The only thing their fans lose is the ability to watch a likely 1 and done for a season.

I think i'm trying to avoid those conversations when I can.

Doesn't matter what is said, they either won't understand it or don't care to. They'll come right back to the internet to bash Oats/team right after the next loss.

Yeah, I don't disagree with that. Was just mentioning it as a ripple effect.

Are we recruiting him? Maybe Frank can come handle the refs for Oats.

Yes (at least we were), but a couple weeks ago he trimmed his list down and we did not make the cut. I would like to think that we will at least reach back out now and see what's up with him.

Gonzaga is the best according to this graph.

3pt % for the season.

Gonzaga 20th 37.8% 642 attempts
Bama 302nd 30.8% 963 attempts

On a side note, Jacksonville St (Auburn's first round opponent) is 5th in the country in 3pt % (38.8%)
S. Dakota St is #1 in the nation at 44.9%. That's crazy.

For 2pt%, Gonzaga is at 60.9% and we are at 56%. Much closer.

Hearing substantial buzz around Jonas Hayes returning to Athens as the lead assistant on White’s staff

I reported Thursday that sources said UGA was hoping to get Hayes back to Athens even if he wasn’t offered the HC job. White pursued Hayes at Florida back in 2018

Being able to get Hayes would make the Mike White hire a little better imo.
