It woukd be but the whole oats vs coach k thing last year was so laughable because of the media blowing it up. If they did their homework theyd know that when mrs oats was battling cancer that coach and her were encouraged to consult with duke hospital by bobby hurley, and coach k also told nate "if u need anything call me , heres my #". It was in a chapter of a book that john feinstein wrote called "the backroads of march".

I mean, honestly, who else were they going to get? For Georgia, it is a good hire because you're getting someone that has consistently won at the SEC level. Of course, a program like Florida wants better results but White will elevate Georgia to a level where the next coach will be in a much better position.
He has definitely been underwhelming but after being a bottom dweller for so long, I think you have to go with a safer route instead of taking a swing at a young assistant coach.
Basically throwing your hands up and saying "we want to get back to the thing we fired the guy before the guy we are firing now for doing" is pretty much the definition of an athletic department surrender cobra.

I feel like UGA has more FODs than we have FOGs

If you are gonna take that risk at least go after a guy with a system or an ace recruiter or something. Just very weird.
You can even go safe in terms of a mid major hire as well. Go get a guy that is older but has been solid in the mid major ranks at a school for 5-10 years that wasn't successful until he got there.
It just feels so lazy like the AD didn't really want to look hard and research the right person.

Oh it's not even close. UGA's fanbase cares about basketball as much as Auburn did before it was the only sport they were any good at.

I’ve been to 2 games in Athens. Both were on Saturday afternoons, and both I walked up to the ticket window and was given really good seats. Both had maybe 5,000 people in attendance.

The problem with that now is that the conference is too good for that to be acceptable.
If UGA keeps it up, they will be the Vandy of basketball. The sport will cost them too much money and a hole will be dug.

I think Georgia should have gone after Forbes at Wake. Feel like White is not much of a step up for them.
Maybe part of the penalty for Wade would be to coach LSU until sanctions are over. For free.

Winner: Rutgers. If the "good Alabama" shows up, the Tide can roll the Scarlet Knights. But Rutgers is tougher. This is an upset worth taking, because the seeds are off here. Take Rutgers

We're obviously going to be a popular pick to lose early.

I have no issue with anyone picking against us. Have you seen us play?

The majority of Georgia folks defiantly do not care about basketball. Just not a thing that moves the needle up there at all. They care as much or more about ex-UGA golfers on Tour than basketball.

For brackets with bonus points for picking an upset based on seeds, the analytics would say choose Rutgers/ND all day long. I’m not sure we will even be favored outright against Rutgers, but if so, it’s only going to be a point or two.
I could definitely have seen LSU hiring a guy like Mike White given what their up against, but UGA hiring him was just stupid. You just helped a “rival” that was going to have to pay him to leave and secured your bottom tier position for the foreseeable future. Can coach recycles or resets sometimes work? Sure (Grant is doing ok at Dayton)…but most of the time they fail Mark Gottfried NC State style (and whatever 3rd world country college he is at now). I would have at least made Rick P say no, before going a safe route to try and avoid embarrassment piling on with the multiple candidates turning it down (they may have done that, and if Ricky shot MD down then UGA probably wasn’t on the table anyway).

Will SEC vacate LSU's '19 regular season title?
Have they done that since Fla football in the early 80's with anyone else?
Ala received 9 votes in the final AP top 25 poll.

Considering they played multiple ineligible players in every game that season, I think it's probably a safe assumption that it'll be vacated. Odds are every W they accumulated under Wade will be vacated.
The real question is whether or not they lose their football Ws. I don't think any of the football program's transgressions standing alone would threaten 2019, but a LOIC charge gives the NCAA the ability to punish you pretty much however they want.

Blue blood derangement syndrome. They believe they are, in every sport.
The other thing is, because no one ever leaves the state, they think Louisiana and BR are the garden spots of the country.
