My optimism for the postseason was tossed out the window last night.

Mine, too.
I posted earlier since this team is so inconsistent, there's no way they can put 2 good games in a row together.
Therefore, our ceiling is two games in the SECT and 2nd round of the NCAA.
Only feasible way to win more than one game in either tournament is to have the opposing team play its absolute worst game of the season.
Which has not been the case all year.

Last one before I move on:

Inconsistency Once Again Plagues Alabama Basketball (SI)

Alabama follows a big win with a crushing loss, in true Alabama basketball fashion.

what disappoints me most is how Oats seems to have no clue how to motivate this team.

I see a DA TO from a player and he is left in the game. JQ had 5 TO's last night.

Are we that starved for talent that you can yanka player for a couple of minutes and sit him at the end of the bench to send him a message you cant play out of control that our guards to a lot of times with lazy passes. I have yet to see a bounce pass that is harder to intercept.

Yes. Last years team had depth that Nate could yank players to send a message and not hurt the team. He can’t do that this year. JD not living up to the hype hurts us because Nate can’t sit Quinerly for a whole game like he did Petty last year to send a message. Nate can’t sit Shack to send a message this year.

He could last year

Wonder how much she makes every appearance? She is in a college basketball arena every night it seems.

Yes he can. We're losing to shite teams either way. At worst it makes no difference to the results. At best maybe a message will get through.

9,281 in attendance, second worst of the year (S Ala). Dropped our attendance below 11k for the year.

What a night!

Player interviews are difficult to watch and it’s hard to read their attitudes.
Is it disappointment plus resolve?
Is it upset, but we know what we have to do going forward?
Is it I’m just fulfilling my player interview requirement, and don’t want to be here?

In any case, let’s hope this team pulls it together for a final run!

Probably rules out Oats going to the Cuse. I know some had mentioned a concern for him leaving for this job.

And so Byrne wins his argument for 10,500 for the new arena.

I posted this on Sunday:

Be prepared to lose to A&M.

This team is the embodiment of the phrase "expect the unexpected."

I'm not a prognosticator, by any stretch, but this team's unpredictability has become easy to predict. It seems their respect is given only to the opponent (when they feel it's warranted), not to the game itself. Their mindset is anti-Saban; they don't play to an internal standard, just to the standard they set each game based on the opponent.

I'm not an Oats detractor, but it bothers me that he's unable to motivate or lead this team to a more consistent level of play.

10,952 is what we ended up with if my #'s are correct.

But we sold way more tickets than that. The same idiots that don't show up now will still have tickets and won't shop up in the new place. I'd imagine we were over 12k tickets sold per game. I'd love to know.
