Oates cant deal with the pressure. Vandys Footbaw team wins 3 games a season, no reason for our basketball team to lose to them.

Even back in the Wimp days were making the tourney was the minimal expectation for the season (NIT his first year, NCAA in 10 of his next 11 with 6 sweet 16s) winning at Vandy was a struggle.

I won't be a bit shocked if Bama plays great and even possibly wins in Lexington and then loses in Nashville.

I'd happily take our traditional L in Memorial Shithole if we get a W in Rupp first.

Not sure if this was discussed much, but I was a bit surprised to see JD only play 18 minutes last night.

I thought he looked pretty good when he was in. He had 0 fouls. He managed to somehow grab 10 rebounds in 18 minutes. It was noticeable enough for me that I wondered if he was dealing with some mild illness or injury, but he didn’t play like that.

His minutes in the previous 3 games: 30, 24, 26. Not a huge outlier, but noticeable. Especially since Keon was struggling. I guess the simplest explanation is JQ was playing extremely well.

Anyway, just mildly curious.

It was unusual and also Oats used a line up that had JD, Q and Shack all on the court together. Not crazy about that especially defensively.

The more I’ve thought about it the more it sort of makes sense. JQ was playing so well that there was no reason to sit him, which naturally limits JD’s opportunities a bit.

And even though Keon struggled (we did seem to make our runs with him on the bench), the plan was to put him on Molinar. Shack is always going to play a ton of minutes, and we presumably didn’t want to go ultra small versus a pretty big team.

Somebody has to sit in that scenario. Maybe it shouldn’t have been JD, but you can see why it would have been.

With that draw we could get to Sweet 16. With this group I would gladly take another Sweet 16

It'd be pretty crazy to go through the rollercoaster of a season that we've had and still end up getting as far as last year's team.

Two Sweet 16's in Oats' first three years here and a top 5 class coming in would have me sunshine pumping all off-season.

The best thing about this year, for me, is that it proves how high the floor for the program is with Oats here. This has been a rough year in terms of nothing going according to plan with the roster, performance, consistency, etc.....and we're still comfortably in the NCAAT with 3 weeks left to play in the regular season.

That's...... incredible stuff.

I try to temper my frustration with this line of thought, but watching this team is just painful sometimes. It’s probably partly my fault for having such high expectations, but the shooting droughts are hard to stomach.

Just hoping they can get things figured out and start peaking again in Mid-March. The effort has been there for the most part, which is encouraging.

If Shackleford and JQ ever get on the same page the same night it would be nice. It seems either one of them is on and the other one is off, vice versa.

While there were ups and downs and frustrations along the way, I think it was a pretty solid job managing to go 4-2 versus this:

Baylor
@Auburn
Kentucky
@Ole Miss
Arkansas
Mississippi State

It’s not otherworldly - there are some games in there that we should have won. But there were no complete gimmies. 5-1 would have been pretty incredible, 4-2 is just really really solid work.

A few games ago, I thought Miles might be gone after the year, but now I think he stays. Same with Holt.

Did George already post Miles performance numbers last night?
I was wondering about prior to Oats toss, and post ejection…

I think DMs disposition changed and he quit looking over his shoulder.
That RH throw down when I thought they would run a set and milk some clock made me think DMs attitude was better with CNO in the locker room.

Should have been Shack resting if his leg is bad.
