5 - Gottfried

In 5 NCAA Tournament appearances, with 3 of them coming in 1 season

2002 - vs #15 seed Florida Atlantic
2004 - vs #9 seed SIU, vs #1 seed Stanford, vs #5 seed Syracuse
2006 - vs #7 seed Marquette

SMH - outside of 2004 all we really got out of the entire Gottfried era were single wins vs a #15 seed (in a scarily close game) and a #7 seed, along with beatdown loses to a 10 seed (Kent St) and a 12 seed (Milwaukee) that jump-started Bruce Pearl's career.

That Milwaukee game was an asskicking. People were picking us to lose too so it wasn’t like they caught us by surprise and we still got our arse kicked

I think last night just kinda helped me define a bit more clearer this team.

-The offensive efficiency is there and will keep us in almost every game but if the team is shooting hot, almost no one can beat us.

-The reason why almost no one can beat us is the defense. At this point in the season, you can't expect much change, it is what it is. We just have to hope the players bring the effort and energy to that side of the floor every night, a big reason for the Holt minutes bump as well.

-I'm already getting tired of our narrative. "They can beat anyone and lose to anyone" I swear the ESPN commentators sitting comfortably at home said it a hundred times when describing this team. It's lazy at this point.

The question isn't if Bama can beat a top team, it's can they perform consistently. Especially performing on the road. Last night was a big step in addressing that answer. This team has the capability of getting hot at the right time and could make us a very dangerous draw come tournament time. It would be nice to iron out anymore kinks before we get to March.

The rebounding has been consistent, and that’s what will be huge come tournament time.

If we get our shot back into the 35-37% range with our rebounding we should win most of our games moving forward.

We really should have beat Kentucky we just shot like absolute shite.

What's crazy is that as of right now, we have a higher projected NCAAT seed than for the conference tournament.

He needs 20 minutes a game! He always plays hard. The more opportunities he keeps getting will only benefit him and the team. He needs to keep being aggressive on offense by slashing to the rim just to keep BUILDING confidence in his offensive game.

I think losing that transfer from Tech to injury was killer. He was supposed to be that defensive anchor and can shoot.

Maybe Oats is trying to get Holt to fill his shoes by the end of the season.

He should just go ahead and do it this year if you ask me.

And then pass Wimp next year.

Didn't Pearl mouth off to MG prior to that game.

Mark asked something like when are you moving to a bigger job and BP said after I kick your arse later today.

I think that's their polite way of saying what you said.

I remember Vandy got in as a (9) seed with a regular season 17-14 record. Looks like it was 2016-2017.

I remember because they harped on them having a tough schedule and whether or not the committee would reward them.

Interesting comparison for the analytic folks.

That Milwaukee team was legit though. Think they won the 2nd round game too.

Yea they were a really good team. #36 in KenPom that year.

So was Kent State - they finished #14 in KenPom (actually higher than us, #22).

Hope we can stay a 5/6 seed. 7 or 8 and have you really tough second round game.

We’re to a point where every win leaves us fewer and fewer opportunities to fall (which I guess is always the case but bear with me) Win these next 2 home games and an 8 seed becomes our floor barring absolute disaster

I remember Travis Stinett making all those 3's vs Auburn in Ttown in the first half. Was that this year or the year before?

I was fairly young at the time for those teams, but Grizzard, Shelton, and Dudley will always be 3 of my favorite 5 or 6 Bama players. My dad never cared for Grizzard so I imagine if he was on a team now that I’m older, I probably would feel the same way as my dad
