Yea, I come out of this game feeling positive.

Now we just need to have the ball go into the hoop some more

JD was ok but I didn't like that lineup honestly. I want JD to start but give him a better lineup. We really need to rework this roster next season.

Same. I think Oats is too. He knows we can’t shoot that bad off those kind of looks for long. We played well in the areas that have been severely lacking recently and got a W vs a top 15 team. That’s a win in my book.

Our 2 worst eFG% shooting nights of the year were Auburn and tonight vs LSU. Two games vs top 10 teams where we lost at the end of the game and won.

I'm still not entirely sure what they are, but we're doing some other things right to be that close against good teams and shoot that badly.

There were some personnel tweaks needed, but it wasn't because of shooting.

I really like how he managed our lineups tonight. He found some good units and made quick changes when one was clearly not working.

Agreed on all accounts. There have been some comments and questions regarding Oats' ability as an in game coach and I guess what I meant was - Oats isn't the type of coach that is going to switch to a zone for the second half or start running a Princeton offense because we are cold from outside or try to get a few back to the basket buckets in a row like a Cal or K or most coaches for that matter.

The guy has a system that he is going to run until the day he dies. The system works if guys do what they are supposed to do. It wasn't his fault when we got punked on the boards last week and it wasn't his fault we missed every 3PA we took in the 2H tonight.

You stick with the system and challenge your guys to go out there with a chip on their shoulder and play like they are capable of playing. Honestly, OOB plays, timeouts and personnel are really the only in game adjustments he has to make. OOB plays have typically been pretty good imo. Personnel has needed some work, but we've seen some changes lately - some has worked and some still needs to be ironed out. Timeouts is the fairest criticism imo, because there are points where he wants to get out and run so badly that he never calls a timeout to gather his guys and try to at least slow down the momentum of the other team.

And for the record, I don't intend for this to come off like i'm preaching to you specifically, George. I just got on a bit of rant and kept going. Was meant more as a general soapbox than anything.

I don’t remember Buzz teams at Marquette and VT playing this style. Seems like they played a little faster and shot the 3 a lot more

Absolutely not, 100% with you and agree. You put it very well.

He has a system. He believes in that system. The system is his program. The idea that we'd start shooting 13 footers and playing slow is like thinking Mike Leach would go into the I formation and try to win time of possession. It's an absurd thought.

I feel pretty good about how we are running the offense now. Generally, when we start doing that well, the shots come eventually. And sometimes they come in buckets.

And the lineups seemed much more geared towards having balanced defensive abilities than previously this season, and you could see a better, more athletic and aggressive defense played most of the night.

Like I said, I feel good about tonight (minus the handful of obviously idiotic stuff).

We could really use an ambush, hair on fire absolute beat down of Missouri on Saturday in which we start seeing some good looks go through the net.

Take that to Athens and take care of business and all of a sudden you have some confidence for Baylor/Auburn/Kentucky.

I just saw on KP that Oats best team at Buffalo didn’t shoot the 3 well either. Maybe this will end up being his best team here

I’m not trying to be a negative Nelly, y’all but we’ve been saying the same shite for what, 4 weeks?? Just as soon as those shots start falling, we gon’ be good! At this point, it’s not a slump, it’s a mental block. And you can’t keep laying bricks if they remain bricks. You get no points for trying or persistence. Yes, Oats has his system and he stays with it. Good for him. But at this point, when the 3pt shooting is just abysmal, it’s time to listen to what the results are telling you. Tweak the system to go inside more, maybe skip the kick out and just take it to the hole until the shots fall a little more. Otherwise we are going to continue to lose games to teams like Missouri that we should beat on a bad day. We got damn lucky tonight. And I’m glad we did, we needed that W but the shot monkey is still on our backs. We’ve got to find a work around for now.

We're getting good shots and finally running our offense well. We're not the 315th 3pt shooting team in the country. You just have to trust that will play it's way out eventually.

Over the last month we are shooting 27.1% from 3PT. That's #333 nationally.

Since the Houston win we are shooting 27.5%. That's #323 nationally.

I mean, that's just silly.

Yeah, I was getting frustrated with all Bama Twitter jumping down Nate's throat for LSU getting back into the game. As if a team missing all of their 15 attempts from 3 in the 2nd half is Nate's fault. We're getting excellent looks but cannot hit any of them. Most are even bricking off the inside of the cylinder. It's not like we're this bad at shooting threes either, they just aren't falling for whatever reason. It's frustrating but something you have to assume turns around at some point.

people keep saying "2 really good players out", but Days has been abysmal this year.

But Days averages 14 ppg and 7 rb and Pinson 10 ppg. That is a big loss. It's their 2nd and 3rd leading scorers.

I was pleased with the improvement in defense and rebounding and Q showed more confidence. Ball movement was better but we continue to pass up easy shots for more contested ones. Cut down on turnovers and shoot better.
