I’d like partial credit for this win.

That was a game we just had to find a way to win, and we did, and I think we found some stuff.

How come there were so few people at the game today? These games should be sell outs. The student section looked pretty sorry too. The cheer team looked great.

Over the last month we are shooting 27.1% from 3PT. That's #333 nationally.

Since the Houston win we are shooting 27.5%. That's #323 nationally.

I mean, that's just silly.

We were up 13 and I tuned back in. I saw 3 wide open misses in a row. Shack barely drew iron. Barely drew iron!!!!!! This is entirely mental and it’s actually incredible

Why Alabama basketball's Jahvon Quinerly came off the bench against LSU

Alabama basketball point guard Jahvon Quinerly knew his team needed to make some changes after a third consecutive loss. He volunteered to take part.

Between the loss to Mississippi State and Wednesday's game against No. 16 LSU, Quinerly went to see Alabama coach Nate Oats. Quinerly mentioned the idea of coming off the bench instead of starting.

"Last year, I was successful in that role, so I had no problem coming off the bench, trying to provide a spark for the team," Quinerly said. "That was pretty much it. It was a mutual thing with me and the coaching staff. I had no problem. I just wanted to win basketball games."

The decision proved to be a good one. Quinerly provided a spark off the bench, and he finished 6-for-16 with 17 points in Alabama's 70-67 victory at Coleman Coliseum. He also had two 3-pointers for the Crimson Tide (12-6, 3-3 SEC).

Quinerly entered the game having shot 5-for-24 from the floor and 2-for-12 from beyond the arc.

"I think he's been trying to play hard," Oats said. "He's been trying to play the right way. He's been giving us great effort."

Quinerly, after speaking with his parents, decided he could perhaps be more effective with that effort in a different role.

Oats agreed on giving it a shot. Especially considering Quinerly's success in that spot during the 2020-21 season. He started in seven of 30 games in which he played last season, but he still finished with 23 double-figure scoring games.

"Either he's going against their starting point guard who's a little fatigued or he's going against their backup point guard who's coming off the bench," Oats said.

We won in spite of being 0-for in the 2nd half from 3. We should have run them out the gym but I’ll take it.

Someone needs to pull a Dansby Swanson and burn some sage!

La Tech and SDSU keep dominating their league and they'll move into the Top 75 and turn into Q2.

Not only have we not played a Q4 game, none of our games are even remotely close to becoming Q4 games. Insane.

I guess we'll get our first one Saturday with Mizzou at home.

From RollTide.com

Head Coach Nate Oats Postgame Comments

"That was a big win. We needed to get back on a winning streak. Three losses in a row were enough. We didn't play particularly well, especially on the offensive end. We couldn't make shots, went 0-of-15 from three in the second half and couldn't make free throws late. Our guys fought and battled all night. You've got to give a ton of credit to our guys for figuring out a way to get a win when it wasn't our best game on the offensive end. I like where our attitude was leading up to the game. I thought we played a lot harder. If we give that effort and we start making shots like we are capable of, then we can get this thing back to where we had it in early December."
