Why are we not trying to get the ball in Keons hands at the end of games? He is the only clutch FT shooter on the team.

JD and Charles combine for 4 points and 4 TO's.

not quality starters in my humble opinion

JD's start lit JQ on fire, so in the end it was a net positive

All the new guys have been disappointing. That’s what this season comes down to. JQ, Shack, Keon are having to carry the load and I think the pressure is getting to them.

I still can't believe we beat a NCAAT quality team while going 1 for our last 18 from 3PT.

Meh. Up 13 with 6 minutes to go, this game should have been easy to close out. But this bunch lacks a leader and they have the basketball IQ of a garden slug. We’re not going very far unless the 3s start falling at an average clip.

Just got back from the game.

But JQ and shack showed up tonight. JQ coming of the bench looked like the old JQ of last year.

Problem is even if he plays better off the bench, I don’t think you can start JD again. He just isn’t ready

And people keep saying "2 really good players out", but Days has been abysmal this year. Pinson being out is a big deal for them, but Days is an outside shooter exclusively who has been about as good out there as Shack the last 4 weeks. That was a game we just had to find a way to win, and we did, and I think we found some stuff.
Agreed. Nobody felt sorry for us when Primo, Bruner, and Gary went down last year or Burnett for the whole year this year, so I don’t either. They’ve got plenty of depth anyways and their best player by far was still on the court.

I mean Gaines is a worse 3pt shooter than even Davison and hit those 3 back to back to back. We shouldn’t have won that game and we did. That was due to the toughness and effort we showed throughout the game. I’ll take that W any day. Our shooting can only go up from here and I think it will. I have a feeling we’re going to get hot when it matters.

I didn’t want Rojas anywhere on the court last year, but I think he’s exactly what this year’s team needed. An example of what toughness and effort are. The guy is not a very talented player, but he has those in boatloads.

He just has to keep playing. He has to continue playing FAST and we gotta let him GROW. Kentucky done that with TyTy so we just gone have to deal with mistakes. Coach just gotta stay with him and keep encouraging him to play fast.

I mean regression is one thing. This is everyone being in the worst shooting slump of their entire life at the same time. These guys aren't "miss every in rythm three for 6 weeks" bad, even with regression. This is going to swing back.

We've been frustrating as hell, but we've been within two possessions of every game late except Memphis. And that's while putting up HORRID shooting performances.

If we ever stop being a bad 2003 NBA team shooting wise, we're going to win a bunch of games. Even with all the frustrating shite. We don't even have to be "hot" shooting - just non-glacial.

Which is why Oats isn't changing anything other than a tweak here or there with personnel.

Did you read what you just said? If all we need is for 3s to start falling at an “average clip”, I think that’s a pretty good place to be. Also, I bet Gaines doesn’t go 3of3 from 3 in an open gym. That was tough to watch, but it was also pretty big luck on their end and absolutely horrible luck from 3 on ours. This too shall pass.

I feel like we were the better team tonight and should have won the game honestly, but free throw shooting and a 4/4 stretch on 3 pointers from LSU made it much more of a game than it felt like for a lot of the 2nd half.

There were some personnel tweaks needed, but it wasn't because of shooting.

I really like how he managed our lineups tonight. He found some good units and made quick changes when one was clearly not working.

If we shoot 25% from 3PT the rest of the year with the same good looks we are getting I'm not sure what else you can do but throw your hands up.

If we miss all our open shots then we're not gonna go far. I mean, the baseline for ant expectation of becoming good is to make at least some of your wide open looks

Fortunately we won.
I just heard our 0-15 2nd hf from 3 Land ties for the worse in any half for every college game this season.

And they were almost all good looks!

I mean it feels almost statistically impossible to continue to have an entire roster consistently miss this many good looks.

Totally agree. I meant that we should have lost that game if you showed simply our shooting percentages, but we just played harder than they did for the most part. I think we were the better team as well. They just happened to have a really lucky couple runs and bank on us being incredibly unlucky shooting too.
