Outside of the last 90 seconds I'm not gonna complain about us getting a top 10 win when we literally went 0/15 from 3 PT in the 2nd half......almost all of them open.
The end was nauseating.
Great, huge win.

If we SHOT the ball better we wouldn't suck but we are so bad shooting WIDE OPEN THREE'S it's just plain sickening.
It's almost impossible to understand since these are players that have consistently shot 35% or better in previous seasons.
They were almost all wide open 3 point shots in the 2nd half too.

I need REAL SHOOTERS. I need guys with PURE FORMS like the guy from Tennessee (Justin Powell). All our guys shot looks bad off release.

The shooting thing has entered voodoo Blair witch territory.
Almost all of the 3s were open and off a pass or in rythm. And we missed ALL of them.
AGAIN
I honestly don't even know what you say in the huddle of you are Oats.

John Petty could win games on his own shoot I am already missing that about him
Let's not forget about his defensive effort last year either. Iirc we put him on Sherif and some others down the stretch to close games and he delivered.

That's the part that really concerns me. If it was just one guy having a disaster season then whatever. Pretty much everyone on the team has regressed though, some of them in a big way.

Shackleford’s mechanics seem a bit wonky to me at the moment - doesn’t seem to be getting his shoulders squared or something. You can almost predict when he’s going to miss (the jokes sort of write themselves).
I suspect (hope?) he’ll get it together at some point.

I mean regression is one thing. This is everyone being in the worst shooting slump of their entire life at the same time. These guys aren't "miss every in rythm three for 6 weeks" bad, even with regression. This is going to swing back.
We've been frustrating as hell, but we've been within two possessions of every game late except Memphis. And that's while putting up HORRID shooting performances.
If we ever stop being a bad 2003 NBA team shooting wise, we're going to win a bunch of games. Even with all the frustrating shite. We don't even have to be "hot" shooting - just non-glacial.

Yep..it was ugly down the stretch but we managed to win and that's huge.
The next 2 are really winnable..Maybe we can find ourselves for the stretch run.

Man the stupid turnovers late and missed FTs is just frustrating, not to mention giving hot LSU shooters wide open looks from 3 . Fortunate to hang on

What's the story on Holt? He was supposed to be a shooter and he got a little bit of run early on, made some hustle plays. Can he make shots?

The best part moving forward, to me, is that we were getting TONS of good looks against a very good defense.
I also was very happy to see Oats moving lineups around and not letting bad groups just play for 5-6 minutes. He didn't mess around with that stuff.

quote:Totally agree. Not sure where all the negativity is coming from. That’s a big win. We shot way under our average and they shot above theirs. We played great defensive outside of two short stretches and rebounded better than we have all year.

If we rebound and play defense that way the rest of the year and can shoot even just average, we can be really good. And if we can get hot at the right time, things could get interesting.

I mean wide open by five full feet, in rhythm, on a run at home with the crowd in a frenzy. That's the scenario where even the real 20% shooters hit 50% of them.
Still, it's a big win and hopefully Oats or just the law of averages has some remedy going forward.
Keon was just massive in clutch defensive plays all game long.

And people keep saying "2 really good players out", but Days has been abysmal this year. Pinson being out is a big deal for them, but Days is an outside shooter exclusively who has been about as good out there as Shack the last 4 weeks.
That was a game we just had to find a way to win, and we did, and I think we found some stuff.
