Well Miami won at Duke.
That's good I guess.

We beat them by 32 points…so how the hell do we beat Miami, Gonzaga, Houston……but lose to Mizzou?

I hope our new Arena is a 12,000 seat Auburn Arena replica.

You guys are a bunch of over reacting pussys. The team lost to a horrible Mizzo team today..yeah, that's bad.
But frick.. it's not the end of the damn world. It's the kind of shite that happens in college basketball.
All these bullshite posters saying "we are NIT bound" ,"Oats isn't getting it done".. shut the frick up.
This same team and that same coach beat Gonzaga, Tenn,Houston, Miami...
By March we will be a 4/5 seed in the tournament.
If you don't recognize what a great job Nate Oats is doing..then once again shut the frick up... go pull for auburn

I think you’ve got this thread confused with the FOGs over on twitter. All the people who normally post in here aren’t posting shite about the “NIT” or “Oats not getting it done” it’s only the randoms doing that.
With our resume 17 wins gets us in the tournament….he’ll maybe even 16

I'm glad I missed this game today. I didn't think we would possibly lose to Mizzou.

Don't know who the guys are spouting that bs..but it was in this thread. If you aren't one of them...then I'm not talking to you

Honestly , imo only, the worse thing about today is really hurts our chances at sec reg season. Gonna have to upset some really good teams and defend home court.
Other than that I liked what I saw our of JD and not what I saw out of Shack. JD should have been on the court more, with Gurley because those guys looked ready to play today.
As for Shack That mental lapse to not cover his off balance shot at the end of the game hurt.
We need JD to make a run. I mean we need more from him. Also Bediako and KAH gotta get it figured out. Saw too many ppl looking at balls expecting someone else to get it.

This team isn’t NIT bound. With wins over Gonzaga, Houston, and Miami and the rest of the schedule, it would take an epic collapse to even be on the bubble. That being said, this team is bafflingly inconsistent.

Almost seems like Q has regressed since last year, and not just his shot. Just doesn’t seem like the same player

This bunch lacks discipline and heart. Normally you replace a player or two that is the problem but with this roster that would be half or more of your roster.

Have to disagree. He is actually doing a lot more for us this year because he has to. Our half court offense looks absolutely lost when it isn’t running through JQ.
And he is getting to the rim and finishing at a higher clip than last year. He just isn’t hitting 3’s even remotely close to last year.
JQ Last Year, Per Game:
2P%: 50.8%
2PA: 5.9 attempts
2P ppg: 6 points
3P%: 43.3%
3PA: 4 attempts
3P ppg: 5.1 points
Total points from field: 11.1 ppg
This Year, JQ Per Game:
2P%: 58.9%
2PA: 7.5 attempts
2P ppg: 8.8 points
3P%: 25.9%
3PA: 5.7 attempts
3P ppg: 4.5 points
Total points from field: 13.3 ppg
He is averaging total 15.5 ppg this year, but it would be 18.5 if he was shooting the 3 at the same clip as last year.

This team lacks the size and length that last years team had that made it a great defensive team.
Herb was 6’8 playing PG. He was so good defensively, he erased the defensive liability of Quinerly and Shackelford.
Then you had Petty at 6’6, who turned into a damn good wing defender, and Primo at 6’6 with a huge wing span.
And Bruner at 6’10 and long, Reese at 6’8 with a big base, and Rojas as another junkyard dog.
Our best defenders by far are Ellis and Gary, but we had them last year off the bench.
We replaced Herb, Petty, Bruner, Reese, and Rojas with Davison, Miles, Gurley, and Bediako. None of those guys are remotely close as defenders to the guys they had to replace in the rotation.
JQ, Shack, and Davison are all 6’3 or less, and we don’t have the Herb Jones eraser behind them. We miss Burnett, badly, because he was a 6’6 wing and a big time defender on par with the guys we lost.

Yes. Pulling in those deep corners and the side angles, and making corporate/ big donor boxes are what we need, and we can do those things best in a new building. Also, building a new building allows the team to play in Tusaloosa while it is being built. Though living in Birmingham, I would have an easier time going to games for a year or two, I have driven down to games for 40 plus years, so I'm for a new arena. . We have had great crowds this year, but the students are stuck in a corner, and the big donor seats have many open spots because those people just don't go to games. They will be here for the halftime football trophy presentation Tuesday, but that's about it. Let them have boxes with rental options - even rich Kentucky fans can rent and sit in them rather than being in some of our best seats. I hated seeing Tennessee fans in the sideline seats. We need to get this done. There is no doubt their new arena is helping Auburn.
