Rick Barnes on the Memphis game being rescheduled: We were there to play the game. But SEC play is way too important to us.... We're not going to risk playing somebody as unvaccinated as they are. Memphis or anybody.
My sister and BIL were there with their two kids about to walk into the area right when they canceled. Hard to describe how pissed I would be if that happened to me

Younger people only get to see or hear Old School Rick Barnes a few time a season.
quote:
With 3:10 remaining, Clemson’s 6-foot-7, 230-pound freshman center, Iker Iturbe, committed a hard, but hardly dirty, foul on Jerry Stackhouse as the star Tar Heel swingman drove to the basket. An angry Smith immediately began pointing at the Clemson center, yelled, “Iturbe! Iturbe,” and then began a stare-down session.
Barnes, enraged by Smith’s actions, requested a midcourt meeting.
“You coach your team, I’ll coach my team,” Barnes told Smith. “You don’t have any right to talk to my players.”

Wouldn’t mind it every now and then. Out of timeouts for a possession or two just to change the look. It might help cut down on the dribble penetration, but on the other hand it might make the rebounding issue worse.

I went back to the early '50's (and could've missed one too) but I only see 2 games where Ala/Aub were both in the top 25 at the same time.
2/1/75 Ala #9/Aub #14 (Ala 77-53)
1/22/87 Ala #13/Aub #17 (Ala 88-82)
That's nuts.

That is pretty wild, especially considering the fact that we were both pretty good in the 1980s.

Nothing says NCAA rules enforcement like issuing a show cause against a coach who is for all intents and purposes retired.

I still can't comprehend how LSU wasn't the first school on the list for them to take care of... They have literally the largest evidence of cheating in collegiate sports since the SMU debacle. And the coach behind it has coached for 2 seasons since it was uncovered.
But coaches like Pearl having a kid over for a BBQ was of the highest importance to address.

It's probably a more complex case since LSU didn't fire the coach involved. It includes football issues too which may be slowing it down.

Lot more than a BBQ. Asked recruits parents to lie to the ncaa. It also was not his first cheating rodeo.

Aware of all of this. My point is that one situation was much milder than the other regardless of the circumstances. NCAA has to work on their priorities.

Which is the exact reason it should be the first to be dealt with.
