Yea I don't hate Pearl at all

He's not as nice as he seems. He's basically a personable Phil Fulmer...

quote:

Pearl has been an NCAA snitch, an NCAA pariah and now finds himself in NCAA purgatory. He’s under a cloud from an investigation that has taken away two of his best players, but he’s also 24-5 overall and 12-4 in the SEC. Were he almost anyone else doing what he’s done given the circumstances of Auburn’s season, he’d probably be a lock for the Naismith Award. But he’s Bruce Pearl, and he probably has no chance.

We don’t know whether the FBI has anything else that could tie back to Pearl. We do know that Pearl’s history suggests he knows better than to deliver sensitive information over the phone. In 1989, Iowa assistant Pearl secretly recorded a conversation between himself and Chicago high schooler Deon Thomas, who would later attend Illinois. The NCAA received a six-minute clip of the 14-minute call, and in that clip Pearl guided Thomas through a conversation regarding his recruitment by Illinois assistant Jimmy Collins. Pearl mentioned Collins promising $80,000 and a Chevrolet Blazer if Thomas would sign with Illinois. Thomas didn’t exactly respond in the affirmative, but he also didn’t deny the accusation. Depending on your reading of the participants and their perspectives, Pearl is either a whistleblower or a Machiavellian operator trying to get a player he wants declared ineligible at one school so that player would attend the school where Pearl worked. At any rate, Pearl’s actions got him blackballed from moving up in the coaching ranks for years. He wound up becoming the head coach at Division II Southern Indiana and stayed there from 1992-2001.

I mean I know everything about him. Vividly remember him bursting onto the national scene kicking our arse in a 12/5 game. If he'd done the Iowa/Illinois stuff to us I'd probably despise him, but he didn't.

I just don't really dislike him.

I can dislike him enough for 2 people. Probably for 200 people. Coaching at the barn and Tennessee is enough.

I hope you never trust him with anything valuable. He is a con man.

This.
Although I actually like Rick Barnes. Dec 29th is a big game to get things started right in SEC.

Side note: orange is hideous. It should be removed from the color wheel immediately.

Let’s just say , I am delighted Pearl is not my coach. For awhile it looked like we may go after him. Thank God for little mercies.

Nate Oats: “Memphis’ talent level is really high. Maybe the most talented team, like one through 11, that we’ve seen all year. And they’re going to get this thing righted at some point. I think we’re going to get their best shot. It’s a home game for them and they’re desperate.”

Nate Knows. This is my fear too. I got a bad feeling we take an L tommorow. If we win it will be our most impressive win yet IMO

Yes...a game where we were the Hunter and not the Hunted. We are the Hunted tomorrow and the Hunter is one of the most talented teams in CBB

And very quick turnaround from possibly the most physical game we’ll play all year.

Mistaken you’re a fricking dunce if you think beating 5-4 Memphis on a 3 game losing streak would be our best win. I completely agree we’ll get their best game, but the last two teams we played would shite on Memphis home, neutral, or away. Oats has heard the sentiment they might give us a scare and I’m sure the players are aware. We cover tomorrow take it to the bank

Alabama would have better odds if it had any championship history on its side.

That looks like one of those fake schools that lures in desperate kids and the guys running the scam pocket all the money they get from D1 schools that pay them to lose.

As of publication, Mid-Major Madness has acquired four game contracts for Carver’s contests against Division I opponents: Kennesaw State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Appalachian State. For each of those, Carver received a guarantee between $2,000 and $2,600. Every school also provided the team with a postgame pizza meal.
