Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like 5 of our next 6 games are Q1 games. That’s insane.

Good to see. May take a lump or two but Nate is scheduling the right way.

I just hope we beat Houston and Memphis. I could see us slipping up to Colorado State or something, but we need to win these big dawg games.

I think 10-2 is worst case entering league play. I don't see us losing a home game. At Memphis is a game we should win but there is a lot of talent there and things could click for a night. The CSU game will be annoying but a win.

That's really not surprising. We start slow and turn it on after halftime far more often than the other way around.

Colorado State is the only team in America averaging more points per possession in the second half relative to the first half than us according to that.

That is a really interesting graph, would be great to follow throughout the season.

Oklahoma chocked hard in the 2nd half last night tho.

Tchikou seems to be a happy, easy to get along with person.
I watched him in warm ups before the last home game, and he did not make many shots other than layups. Shack on the other hand, made almost every shot. Mostly catch and shoot from 3pt land.

One name that has gathered some support with the Maryland opening: Former Terps star Juan Dixon.

Maryland’s all-time leading scorer and 2002 Most Outstanding Player has been head coach at Coppin State in MEAC since 2017. Won regular-season title last year.

That would be pretty cool.

I wonder how much the Miami game skewed the data.

Loved Dixon, dude survived a horrible childhood and was unheralded as a recruit. Won the national title as a senior.

A refreshing change after the "tale of two halves" of the prior two coaches.

opponents now 56-13 outside our games. 2-1 last night. SDSt blew a 2nd half lead at Idaho and lost. That's over 81% winning percentage.

Terrible loss for SDSU last night. Idaho is abysmal. They were 1-7 going in with their only win over a DIII school (George Fox). They'd lost to Wazzu by 48 and Utah Valley by 38. They were #355 out of 358 in the 1st NET rankings.

This is why you HAVE to beat those top-level mid-majors. If you lose to an SDSU, “it’s ok, they’re gonna win their conference” seems to never work out the ones we lose to always seem to flop.

This has probably been discussed, but I'd only heard a vague mention about an emotional meeting. I heard a little more detail this morning on the Blue Ribbon podcast. Apparently, after the Iona game, Miles spoke up, and encouraged the rest of the bench who had been watching (and presumably talking among themselves) to say something as well. He said now is the time to speak up, and they pointed out the selfish play, and lack of ball movement. Sounded like it was a good meeting and the criticism was well received. Anyway, they just alluded to it on the podcast. Still not a lot of detail, but I wasn't aware that it was Miles that called them out. Dude is turning out to be a lot more mature than I expected at this stage.

Yep - it was in an article in The Athletic, I believe. Basically that guys hadn't been selfish in a "I want to score" kind of way, but more in a "I need to step up the team needs me to do something" kind of way, and that was destroying ball movement. Guys were talking about it amongst themselves and finally Miles was just like "this isn't good, lets all talk about it because we're all talking it about in little groups". And since then it's gotten better.

Pretty awesome leadership move there from a young guy who is currently a role player.

There was an Athletic article about it. Guys were coming back to the bench complaining to him about not getting the ball and as soon as they got back to the locker room he called them out on it and told them that if they say it to him they need to say it to the guys they were complaining about. Then there was a come to Jesus meeting. So yeah, really impressive for a sophomore to take on that kind of leadership role.
