But there needs to be rules, and that rules need to be enforced. Make the process transparent, so there's no question if a transfer is allowed or that it's above board.

How do you stop tampering though? Literally the only way anyone is ever going to get caught is if the player turns them in, but the only coaches dumb enough not to insulate themselves from the contact, i.e. get a grad assistant to reach out to a booster who reaches out to a relative of the player who reaches out to the player to let him know that he could get more money by going into the portal, are dipshits like Will Wade.

I mean that's really the issue here. Granting blanket waivers actively encourages tampering, but there is absolutely nothing the NCAA can do about it since they lack the power to subpoena documents.

Saban has the plan: we need player contracts with stipulations, and we need salary caps. Just use the NBA/ NFL models. Players in the pros can’t just jump ship one day.

I think basketball has shown that it will compete in the NIL department. JQ probably just wanted more.

If it's Miami or Memphis, it's definitely because of a huge bag. They both have big holes at guard, and have booster they'll desperately toss cash at the problem. It sucks, but being this late is probably causing a bidding war. So I think he'll get more now then if he transferred in May.

You can't. Even with contracts, it still happens in the pros. All you can do is limit the opportunities. That way, you don't have someone enter the portal a week before fall camp begins.

Make the grad transfer deadline the same as the regular transfer deadline. That's the only thing that puts it on a level playing field.

Contract terms for two new Alabama basketball assistants:

Ryan Pannone: 2 years, $330,000
Austin Claunch: 2 years, $275,000

For reference: Pettway made $410,000 annually on his previous deal and Hodgson made $425,000 annually

After Trilly's tweet, I was thinking we were going to land Mulcahy (the "3 weeks" part lines up with when he entered the portal). Definitely seems like we're making more ground with Toussaint though.

Either would be solid in light of losing someone so late in the process.

Paul's attitude is what this team will need if I'm being honest.

He plays with great confidence and I hope we are working hard behind the scenes to get him on campus for a visit.

He would be a great add for a ton of reasons, but I agree his "guy you hate unless he's on your team" attitude would be a plus not a minus.

Yeah, I'd be more than fine with either. Eother would be way better than what I would have suspected. Toussaint I'd imagine would be a stronger defender with Mulcahy as more of an offensive presence.

SEC/ACC matchups announced tommorow. It will be played Nov. 27-30, which I hate.

I like the weekend right in the middle of conference play

2 weeks ago, I'd have agreed with you. But now, I'd love to play UNC and make their whiney, bitch-arse fans sad.

Give me UVA. The extreme contrast in styles would be really interesting.

That would be interesting. I kind of feel we would run them off the court.

I think they will put us with UNC but I would rather see us play Duke. Duke at home in a new arena would have been nice.

Then you must be looking forward to the Purdue game. That'll be two very contrasting styles.
